摘要: A current sensor (10) comprising spaced pole pieces (62, 64) and a magnetic shunt (80) bridging the pole pieces within an insulating housing assembly (12) which also contains a magnetoresistive transducer (90) and electronic circuitry (16) for sensing magnetic field intensity between the pole pieces and relating that intensity as electric signals provided at terminals (26) at the exterior of the housing. The transducer senses magnetic field intensity along a principal axis (88). Permanent magnets (94, 96) or induction coils (276, 278) are provided to establish a biasing component of magnetic field intensity along an axis (98) substantially normal to the principal axis to improve sensor sensitivity, range of operation and immunity to current overload.

摘要: A magnetic flux concentrator comprising spaced pole pieces (4,6) and magnetic shunt (8) bridging the pole pieces within an insulating housing (2) which also contains a magnetoresistive transducer (24) and electronic circuitry (26) for sensing magnetic field intensity between the pole pieces and relating that intensity as electric signals provided at wiring terminals (28) at the exterior of the housing. The pole pieces have magnetic terminal portions adjacent openings in the housing for removable attachment thereto of selected ferrous strap configurations (42,50,52,60) determined by the cross-sectional shape of the electrical conductor (46) in which current flow is to be measured, the respective strap configuration and flux concentrator forming a magnetic loop around the conductor for picking up the magnetic flux induced by current flow in the conductor.

摘要: A motor overload protection system (OL) that has a speed of operation fast enough so that it will always trip before the power switch (MC) has had time to operate if the turn-on control means (ON) is operated under overload conditions. In one version, modules (OL1,OL2) are provided having PTC thermistor sensors (PTC1,PTC2) bonded to resistance heaters (H1,H2) connected in the motor power circuit (L1,L2,L3), these sensors being supplied from a current source (CT) and being effective to shunt current to a protective trip device (TR) upon occurrence of an overload condition, there being an ambient temperature compensating PTC themistor (PTC3) in series in the sensor circuit (OLC). In another version, a thermal mass (TM) is preheated above ambient temperature by an ambient temperature compensating PTC thermistor (ATC) operated above its switching temperature level and a sensor PTC thermistor (ST) and a heater (HT) are also thermally coupled to the thermal mass (TM) with a bias resistor (R1) connected to the sensor thermistor (ST) to provide a step voltage output (OUT) on overload. The heater may be a PTC thermistor (HT) having a higher switching temperature for self-shutoff on higher than usual overload or may be a resistance heater (H3) with a PTC thermistor (TP) in series therewith for self-shutoff.

摘要: A push button switch has an operator that is mounted for axial movement within a bezel towards its exit end. A contact assembly is disposed across the exit of the bezel. The contact assembly includes a pair of termination areas formed on a substrate and a shorting patch disposed on a flexible membrane, the shorting patch being separated from the termination areas by a spacer to provide a switch air gap. A second spacer is disposed on the other side of the substrate and forms an air reservoir that communicates with the switch air gap through an aperture in the substrate. When the operator is moved against the membrane to close the switch air gap, air is circulated into the air reservoir increasing the pressure therein, and returns to break the contact of the termination areas with the shorting patch when the operator is retracted.
