摘要： Disclosed are methods of treatment or prophylaxis of a cardiac-related condition by electromagnetic field application. A person having or susceptible to such condition is subjected to low-level electromagnetic fields having a frequency between zero up to about 200 Hertz. The diseased state or condition may include diseased heart valves, an enlarged heart, circulatory blockage, coronary insufficiencies, and ischemia. The treatment may be administered non-invasively or invasively. An implantable device for invasively administering the treatment may include at least one component emitting electromagnetic fields having a frequency between zero and about 200 Hertz. The component may include at least one inductor.

摘要： A hyperthermia treatment device comprises paired multiple feed inductor rings positioned between two capacitor plates, for producing a tuned radiofrequency electromagnetic field. The spatial orientation of the elements and/or the phase of the current flowing through them is variable. Change in the spatial orientation and phase of the inductor rings produce asymmetric magnetic field patterns resulting in the development of asymmetric eddy current patterns orthogonal to the magnetic lines of force. The eddy current patterns are further focused by spatial orientation and phase adjustment of the capacitor plates. A movable grounding point is utilized to further focus induced eddy currents. The device is capable of producing focal hyperthermia at depth to heat specific volumes.

摘要： A surgical tool for surgically treating tissue in a patient comprising a radio frequency power generator for creating an alternating current having an impedance matching circuit connected thereto for matching the impedance of a surgical instrument with the radio frequency generator. A loading and tuning coil is connected to a watts/ampere meter which is connected to the impedance matching circuit. The loading and tuning coil is connected to a surgical instrument which has a tip for focusing the radio frequency current at the region of the tissue such that the tissue being contacted is instantaneously vaporized and cut and/or cauterized.

The steps comprise touching a surgical tool to tissue that is to be surgically treated; heating the surgical tool by converging current to the tip of the surgical tool to create a high current density at the tip of the surgical tool so as to instantaneously vaporize the tissue being touched; and restricting the heat to the contact point on the tissue. Such a surgical tool is capable of creating a virtually bloodless, micro-thin incision as well as selectively coagulating body fluids (e.g., blood) and as such, is particularly useful in neuro, oncological and vascular surgery.
