摘要： A liner hanger assembly has a slip actuation system which is locked for run-in. A piston assembly bolts onto the mandrel in a sealable manner to actuate a mechanical lock. Upon release of the lock, a plurality of springs actuate a sleeve which is in turn attached to the slips to move them relative to their slip seats. The slip seats are preferably mounted to the mandrel without welding and have longitudinal spaces for mud or cement flow therebetween. Load is distributed from each slip through its slip seat into the mandrel without interaction from an adjacent slip or slip seat. A rupture disk ensures that a predetermined pressure is built up before the piston can actuate to defeat the lock. The lock can come in a variety of configurations. One of which is a sliding sleeve over a dog and another is a yoke over a split ring which, when shifted, allows the split ring to expand, thus unlocking the parts. The slips can also be configured to allow flow of mud or cement behind them, thus reducing the resistance to flow of such materials.

摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus for anchoring of equipment within the interior bore of a section of a subterranean well conduit, and particularly for insertion of such equipment. The apparatus comprises a cylindrical housing and a conically tapered surface around the exterior of the housing which is radially larger at its upper end and tapered to a radially smaller lower end. A seal body is provided which is carried exteriorly around the housing and has its interior tapered end reverse to that of the conically tapered surface around the housing and which is selectively longitudinally movable relative to the housing from a first, unset position on the conduit section to a second, set position on the conduit section and radially expandable during the movement relative to the housing. Anchoring means are carried exteriorly around the body for securing the apparatus to the conduit section against upward and downward movement of the apparatus. A bi-directional anchoring system is provided such that force received on or through either end of the apparatus drives the apparatus into further anchoring engagement with the conduit section. A metal-to-metal primary and elastomeric secondary seal system are provided on the apparatus with the secondary elatomeric seal having zero extrusion and slip body having a ductility of from between about 1% and about 15%.

摘要： A locking production seal assembly is shown for sealing a well tubing string within the bore of a surrounding well conduit which has been provided with an internal recess. The seal assembly includes a sliding mandrel which is made up in the well tubing string and an outer sleeve which is carried about the mandrel. The outer sleeve has an external seal for sealing with the interior of the surrounding conduit and an internal seal for sealing with the sliding mandrel. A setting sleeve carried between the mandrel and outer sleeve carries a set of setting dogs for engaging the surrounding conduit and a set of locking dogs for locking the setting sleeve to the surrounding sleeve once the assembly is set. The load carrying setting dogs are separated from the mandrel exterior by the setting sleeve to prevent damage to the mandrel exterior.

摘要： A wiper plug for downhole use is disclosed. It features an inflatable structure that allows it to ride inside tubulars that change or gradually vary in inside diameter. In a preferred embodiment the bladder is actuated by fluid displaced by a biased piston. The piston is capable of moving in opposite directions to allow original insertion into a launcher and subsequent bladder expansion. In another embodiment, the piston can be fluid driven in opposed directions by a pump and an on board control system which can regulate, on a real time basis, the contact pressure of the bladder to a predetermined level or range, as the bladder encounters varying interior wall diameters of the tubular string or associated equipment.

摘要： A composite landing collar is disclosed which is preferably adhesive bonded to the liner string using a high temperature epoxy. The spacing during bonding is maintained within dimensional limits using spacers. The body features a bi-directional material, with an appropriate ratio in the warp and fills directions, for about a quarter of the wall thickness. A unidirectional material with the fibers axially aligned aids in reduction of thermal stresses in the thick wall during curing, as well as reducing shear stress concentration along the adhesive bonding interface.

摘要： Tools for expanding downhole tubulars into each other or in open hole are disclosed. One embodiment uses a movable cone biased by Bellville washers to move longitudinally against such bias and allow collets to move radially in or out to a predetermined maximum diameter. A release system allows collet retraction to avoid hang up on removal. In an alternate embodiment, more suitable for open hole applications, pressurized gas pushes a movable cone longitudinally against the collets. A stationary cone is on the opposite side of the collets from the movable cone. The collet rides out or in between the cones and raises the gas pressure when forced in. A pressure actuated release allows the lower cone to shift downwardly to allow the collets to retract for removal.

摘要： A plug-dropping head capable of dropping balls or plugs or other objects is disclosed. The plug-dropping head has a compact design with a cylinder having multiple chambers for storage of plugs and/or balls. The device can be actuated manually or automatically, locally or remotely, to rotate the cylinder to present a different bore in alignment with a flowpath through the housing. An exterior signal indicates that the object has fallen through the device. An indexing feature assures alignment of the individual bores in the cylinder which contain a plug or wiper with the main passage through the tool. Flow can be maintained through the tool as the cylinder is rotated. Rotation of the cylinder allows an obstruction device in the flowpath to move out of the way to allow the ball or plug to drop when sufficient alignment is reached.

摘要： A combination landing unit and seal assembly is shown for engaging and sealing within the internal bore of the liner within a well. A special latch mechanism carried on the seal assembly includes an externally threaded latch collet which can be stabbed into the setting sleeve threads which are normally provided in the interior of the liner for use with the running tool which installs the liner in the well bore. An integral seal assembly is carried in the assembly in an upward extension of the landing unit and floats within a tubular extension of the landing unit. A plug can be installed in the landing unit to allow the seal assembly to be retrieved to the well surface without killing the well.

摘要： A wiper plug release tool uses a first pump down plug that lands in the tool to pressurize an internal chamber to slide a sleeve that undermines a set of dogs to allow the lower wiper plug to be decoupled from support. The shifting of this sleeve cams a second set of dogs into an internal passage in the tool to act as a landing location for a second pump down plug. Landing the second pump down plug on the now extended dogs allows a net pressure to be applied to an upper piston which shifts a sleeve to release the support for the second wiper plug. The upper piston remains in pressure balance unless the second pump down plug can be landed on the dogs that only extended because the sleeve that released the lower wiper plug had shifted.
