摘要:
The present invention involves apparatus and methods for use in collecting bodily fluids, such as interstitial fluids, from the epidermal layer of an animal. A preferred apparatus includes a pressure head and, optionally, a holder therefor for supplying a positive pressure to the head. The methods include the application of a positive pressure to the area surrounding an epidermal site from which stratum corneum has been breached, such as by laser ablation, to cause bodily fluids, such as interstitial fluids, to exude from the site and collecting the fluids exuding therefrom.

A method of forming a conductive ink bridge wire EED on either a flat or curved substrate, wherein a finely detailed bridge wire EED is printed on the substrate using a nano-particle conductive material applied with a commercially available piezoelectric drop-on-demand ink jet printer—which bridge wire is subsequently coated with a first primary explosive layer, an optional second transition explosive layer, and a third secondary explosive layer—such that upon creating a current through the bridge wire EED, the bridge wire is heated and the explosive layers detonate in turn, and in turn initiate the detonation of the device to which the detonator is attached.

Some embodiments of the invention comprise a biosensor cartridge which optically, fluidically, and/or mechanically couples to an evanescent sensing measurement apparatus having annularizing illumination elements, said biosensor cartridge and measurement apparatus being used for detecting the presence of chemically or biologically active substances binding to said biosensor present within an aqueous media, such as and without limitation, the presence of specific proteins in blood or urine. Some embodiments comprise an integrated biosensor cartridge having a flow channel and a plurality of storage cavities, fluid flow in the cartridge controlled by valving mechanisms for directing a plurality of fluids through the cartridge, the order and amounts of such fluids passing through the cartridge being externally controlled and required for the detection and measurement of specific chemically or biologically active substances.
