A slotted swivel tube (24) is supported by the ferrule (16) and a terminal (24) is slidably disposed in the swivel tube (24). The assembly is characterized by the terminal (28) having a cross pin bore (30) and a cross pin (32) disposed in the cross pin bore (30), the cross pin (32) having a hole (34) extending transversely or diametrically therethrough with the core element (12) extending through the hole (34) to retain the cross pin (32) in the bore (30). The cross pin (32) extends through the cross pin bore (30) and out of each of the slots (26). A crimped section (36) of the terminal (28) is deformed into gripping engagement with the core element (12) to retain the terminal (28) to the core element (12).

    摘要: A slide-n-snap in support fitting 14 for motion transmitting remote control assembly of the type for transmitting motion by a flexible motion transmitting core element 12. The fitting 14 presents a pair of spaced inner 24 and outer 26 flanges for receiving therebetween the edge of a slot 18 in the support structure 16 and a pair of locking arms 22 extend in a cantilevered fashion a direction transverse to the guideways 20 defined by the flanges 24 and 26 for flexing about an axis parallel to the guideways 20 and remaining inflexible in the direction parallel to the guideways 20 for extending over the support structure 16 adjacent the slot 18 therein while flexing about the axis parallel to the guideways 20 during insertion of the fitting 14 into the slot 18 and snapping back into mechanical interlocking engagement with the end of a ramp 32 projecting from the support structure 16 in the locked position so that forces urging the fitting 14 out of the locked position in the slot 18 will react with the arms 22 in the inflexible direction, thereby providing relatively low force to insert the fitting 14 into the slot 18 while providing a relatively high retention force to prevent the fitting 14 from being removed from the slot 18.

More specifically, the first core element section (12) is inserted into the rod (44) while inserting the end (46) of the rod (44) into a swivel tube (38) while maintaining the female member (28) bottomed out in the extended portion, and securing the rod (44) to the first core element section (12) at a position exteriorly of the swivel tube (38) whereby the rod (44) is prevented from completely exiting the swivel tube (38) into the extended position.

    摘要: A cable operated interlock system between the gear selector lever (12) of an automatic transmission and the brake pedal (42) restrains the gear selector lever (12) in the Park position until the brake pedal (42) is first depressed. The interlock system includes a shifter cable (68) having one end (70) connected to an L-shaped pedal actuator (62) and another end (72) connected to an inhibitor pin (74) adjacent the gear selector lever (12). A compressible tip (82) is telescopically received over the end of the pedal actuator (62), with a spring (84) trapped therebetween for yielding when the brake pedal (42) returns to its rest position in the event the gear selector lever (12) resides in one of its drive positions. The interlock system may also include an ignition cable (90) extending between an ignition switch (52) of the automobile and the pedal actuator (62). The ignition cable (90) prevents displacement of the pedal actuator (62) and the attached shifter cable (68) unless the ignition switch (52) is in a Run position. Conversely, the ignition cable (90) will not permit the ignition switch (52) to return to its Off position until the gear selector lever (12) has been placed in its Park position.
