摘要:
A catheter device for transferring fluid material to or from one or more selected-length segment of a vessel. The device includes first and second catheters, each having a tube with distal and proximal ends, an inflatable balloon carried on the tube, adjacent the distal tube end, and a fluid conduit for supplying the balloon, with such operatively positioned in the vessel. A central region of the second-catheter tube is axially shiftable within the first-catheter tube, allowing the balloons to be placed at desired relative positions in the vessel. Fluid is injected into the region between the two balloons through a fluid passageway formed in a channel in the first-catheter tube.

A catheter device for accessing an internal body site along a small-diameter vessel path containing branch points in which the path may follow either the larger of smaller-diameter branch vessels. The device includes a catheter having a distal-end inflatable balloon and an distal-end aperture. A guide wire in the device is designed to partially block the aperture at one or more axial wire positions, allowing the balloon to be inflated by fluid infusion into the catheter. In a catheter placement operation, the catheter is advanced along the vessel path toward the selected target site. When the leading end of the catheter encounters a branch point at which the path follows the larger-diameter vessel, the guide wire is moved to a position which partially blocks the catheter aperture, and fluid is infused into the catheter to inflate the balloon. The catheter is then carried by hydrodynamic flow into the larger-diameter vessel. When the catheter end encounters a branch point at which the path follows the smaller diameter of the two branch vessels, the catheter is deflated and the guide wire is manipulated to orient the wire for movement into the smaller vessel.

This is a catheter assembly and a section of that catheter assembly. That catheter assembly may be used in accessing a tissue target within the body, typically a target which is accessible through the vascular system. Central to the invention is the use of a braided metallic reinforcing member, typically of super-elastic alloy ribbon, situated within the catheter body in such a way to create a catheter having an exceptionally thin wall, controlled stiffness, high resistance to kinking, and complete recovery in vivo from kinking situations. The braid may have a single pitch or may vary in pitch along the axis of the catheter or catheter section. The braided ribbon reinforcing member typically is placed between a flexible outer tubing member and an inner tubing member to produce a catheter section which is very flexible but highly kink resistant. The catheter sections made according to this invention may be used alone or in conjunction with other catheter sections either made using the concepts shown herein or made in other ways. The more proximal sections of the catheter assembly are often substantially stiffer than the more distal sections due to the presence of stiff polymeric tubing or metallic tubing or composited materials in the stiffer section.

This invention is an apparatus for the formation of occlusions in spaces in the human body, occluding such as thrombi in arteries, veins, aneurysms, vascular malformations and arteriovenous fistulas. In particular, it deals with a one piece assembly having an improved electrolytically erodable link to an occlusive member and further having an incorporated return electrode in the assembly. The occlusion-forming member is introduced to and is intended to remain at the desired occlusion site. The invention also relates to the joint itself. The invention further includes a method for introduction and electrolytic separation of the device.

This is a surgical device usually delivered through an intravascular catheter. It is designed to pierce and remove emboli often found in tortuous vasculature. The device includes several sections. The device has a core element. Placed around the distal end of the core wire is a collapsible but self expanding embolism collection assembly. That collector assembly is typically joined to the core wire at its distal end. The collector assembly may have a generally conical distal portion when expanded and may have a proximal section having varied purposes, e.g. for centering the collector assembly in the vascular lumen. The assembly further may have an actuator which permits the collector assembly to expand after deployment.

This is a catheter having a shaft, the layers of which are coextruded in an intermittently changing pattern that produces particular mechanical and frictional properties in the structure. The outer layer of the catheter shaft is comprised of a material which has greater flexibility than the material which comprises the inner layer of the catheter shaft. The stiffer material which comprises the inner layer has frictional properties which facilitate guidewire passage and control. The invention includes the substituent shaft per se and a method of making the shaft.

This is an implant for placement in the human body and an assembly for so placing that implant. Most desirably, it is an implant for use in the vasculature of the human body and is used to occlude some space in that vasculature as a portion of a treatment regimen. The implant itself is preferably a component of a deployment device using an electrolytically severable joint. The implant is electrically isolated from the electrolytically severable joint by a highly resistive or insulative layer. Such isolation and minimization of the conductive pathway from the placement apparatus to the body's fluids appears to enhance the susceptibility of the electrolytic joint to quick erosion and detachment of the implant from the deployment media. Although the implant itself is preferably a vaso-occlusive device, it may instead be a stent, a vena cava filter, or other implant which may be installed in this manner.

This invention is a single-lumen balloon catheter and assembly having a variable stiffness shaft that allows for greater guidewire trackability and proximal pushability than previous designs. The catheter has an elongate tubular body that is made of inner and outer coaxial tubes, the inner tube being made of proximal and distal sections, the proximal section being stiffer than the distal section and the distal section being stiffer than the outer tube.

A pusher-vasoocclusive coil assembly that is advanced through a catheter to a site within a vessel and is manipulated to detach the coil from the assembly. The coil has an enlarged member at its proximal end and the pusher has a keyway at its distal end that receives the enlarged member in interlocking engagement. The pusher and coil are coupled by placing the enlarged member in the keyway and enclosing the coupled assembly with a coaxial sleeve. The coil-pusher-sleeve assembly is positioned at the site and the sleeve is retracted to allow the member to move out of the keyway to uncouple the pusher and coil.

A catheter for use with a guide wire which can be guided from an external body access site to an internal tissue, and into the tissue along a tortuous path of at least about 5 cm through vessels of less than about 3 mm lumen inner diameter. The catheter includes a relatively stiff proximal segment dimensioned to track the wire from the access site to a region adjacent the internal tissue, and a relatively flexible distal segment dimensioned to track the wire along the tortuous path within the soft tissue.
