摘要： Various embodiments are described in connection with auto-detection capabilities of a device in an industrial environment. The device can behave differently in a secured environment than it would in an unsecured environment. If in a secured environment, the device can obtain an auto configuration policy to control the device's security configuration from a security authority, for example. The device can configure itself based on the policy. Both secured-by-default and open-by-default can be supported based on the environment. According to some embodiments, needed security domain specific knowledge can be reduced, which increases the number of maintenance personnel that can add or replace a device in a secured system.

摘要： A motor control system includes a first peripheral device and a motor control host. The first peripheral device is operable to generate a first configuration message. The motor control host includes a plurality of ports and the first peripheral device is coupled to a first one of the ports. The motor control host is operable to store a configuration mask defining access rights for each of the ports, receive the first configuration message over the first port, and accept or reject the first configuration message based on the configuration access defined in the configuration mask for the first port.

The control program (22) includes instructions for generating screen displays including configuration screen displays (50, 60) for selecting a plurality of specific fault conditions to be monitored at the motor drive (11), and the screen displays include locations (45, 67) for entering a network address for sending an e-mail message (71) in response to a fault condition. The control program (22) includes further instructions for generating the e-mail message (71) to the entered network address in response to occurrence of at least one of the selected faults. A method of practicing the invention is also disclosed.

摘要： A motor control host includes a plurality of ports, a memory, and a processing device. The memory is operable to store an enable mask defining an enablement state for each of the ports. The processing device is operable to send a first message over those selected ports having an affirmative enablement state to maintain a communication link over the selected ports and inhibit the first message for those ports having a negative enablement state. A method for configuring a motor control system including a motor control host having a plurality of ports includes storing an enable mask defining an enablement state for each of the ports. A first message is sent over those selected ports having an affirmative enablement state to maintain a communication link over the selected ports. The first message is inhibited for those ports having a negative enablement state.
