摘要: An ablative surface insulator having a basket-like open weave of metal strips, convoluted on a one inch pitch and having a spacing of one-half inch between center lines of the strips is attached to a base material to be protected. A suitable elastomeric material which provides thermal protection by pyrolytic charring is molded on the woven metal structure.

摘要: An apparatus for shredding, crushing and grinding solid waste material for eventual waste disposal in which two interacting stacks of shredding members are mounted on substantially parallel shafts and are positioned in transverse arrangement with respect to the direction of waste material introduction into the comminutor apparatus. A shredding member of each stack interacts with a shredding member on the other stack whereby the shredding members cooperatively interact in pairs within the comminutor. In some applications, the minimum clearance distance between the teeth of a cutting element with an opposing spacer in a pair of interacting shredding members differs as between different ones of the pairs of interacting shredding members. Teeth are provided on at least one member of each pair of shredding members for cutting in both directions of rotation. The shaft of one of the stacks is driven through a gear reduction system in order to reduce noise and power requirements for operation. The shaft may be driven in either direction of rotation so that the teeth of the shredding members may be driven to cut in either direction.

摘要: An integrated system for diverting and reducing the size of waste materials in an effluent stream comprising a frame having a bottom housing and a top housing and mountable in the stream. A grinder unit is mounted to the frame bottom housing and comprises a cutter assembly positioned in the stream and a drive mechanism coupled to the cutter assembly to rotate the cutter assembly. The drive mechanism may be electric or hydraulic. A screen unit is mounted to the frame. It may be a single screen or dual screens. The screen unit comprises a cylindrical screen rotating on a screen shaft having a screen shaft mounted on bottom housing of the frame and supporting the cylindrical screen. A drive assembly operably couples the drive mechanism to the screen shaft to rotate the cylindrical screen as the cutter assembly rotates. In operation with the screen unit positioned adjacent to the grinder unit it diverts solids in the effluent stream toward the grinder unit for size reduction. An auger-screen may be placed downstream for removal of large solids after size reduction.
