Abstract: A method of performing a write operation in a disk device comprises storing multiple units of data in a first area of a buffer, wherein each of the units of data has a size that is different from a size of a corresponding target sector of a disk. The method further comprises transferring data from a first target sector to second and third areas of the buffer, and writing the data stored in the first area of the buffer and the data stored in the third area of the buffer to the first target sector.
