    Abstract: A node may receive, from a quantum key-distribution (QKD) device, a first message that includes an identifier associated with a key. The node may send, to another node, a second message that includes the identifier and a request to perform at least one task. A node may receive, from the other node, a third message that includes information associated with performance of the at least one task by the other node and information indicating a time of performance. The node may receive, from the QKD device, a fourth message that includes the key and information indicating a time window associated with the quantum key; wherein the fourth message is received after expiration of the time window. The node may process, based on the fourth message, the third message to determine whether the third message is valid and thereby cause one or more actions to be performed.

    Abstract: A device may generate a first polynomial and a second polynomial, and may generate, based on the first polynomial, a primary path from a first network device to a second network device via a first set of intermediate network devices. The device may generate, based on the second polynomial, a secondary path from the first network device to the second network device via a second set of intermediate network devices, and may assign a point of the first and second polynomials to the device, to each of the first set of intermediate network devices and of the second set of intermediate network devices. The device may cause the primary path to be provided from the first network device to the second network device, and may cause the secondary path to be provided from the first network device to the second network device.

    Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus comprises a memory and a processor operatively coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to receive, from a forward error correction (FEC) decoder of an optical transponder, a first plurality of pre-FEC bit error rate (BER) values at a plurality of times to identify a degradation over a first transmission path. The processor is configured to determine, based on the first plurality of pre-FEC BER values, a signal pattern. The processor is configured to adjust, based on the signal pattern, a set of parameters including a first threshold and a second threshold. The processor is configured to send, in response to a second pre-FEC BER value exceeding the second threshold and being below the first threshold, a signal to trigger traffic rerouting to a second transmission path to reduce traffic loss due to the degradation over the first transmission path.

The apparatus also includes a second communication interface configured to be communicatively coupled to a router via an Ethernet connection. The signal generator is configured to generate an Ethernet signal representing at least one attribute of the optical line between the first communication interface and the network device.
