    摘要： In a wound golf ball comprising a solid center, a thread rubber layer, and a cover, the solid center has a diameter of 29-37 mm, has such a hardness distribution that the hardness at the outer surface is lower than the hardness at a middle and the difference between the maximum and the minimum of solid center hardness is at least 6 units on JIS-C hardness scale, has a JIS-C hardness of 50-85 at the outer surface, and experiences a deformation of 2-4.5 mm under a 1-50 kg load. The ball exhibits an optimum spin performance when hit with different types of clubs, and affords improved feel, durability, and distance.

    摘要： A thread-wound golf ball has a wound core consisting of a center with a diameter of 29-37 mm and a rubber thread layer with a thickness of 1.0-2.5 mm. A cover enclosing the wound core is of two-layer construction comprising a relatively soft inner cover layer and a relatively hard outer cover layer having a Shore D hardness of 55-65. The inner and outer cover layers combined have a thickness of 2.0-5.0 mm. This construction gives the golf ball an excellent scuff resistance when hit with an iron club, as well as an improved spin, feel, and flight performance upon a full shot with a driver.

The solid center is composed mainly of a thermoplastic polyester elastomer and has an outer diameter of 31-34 mm, a deflection of 1.8-4.5 mm under an applied load of 50 kg, and a rebound height of 95-105 cm when dropped from a height of 120 cm. The cover has a specific gravity of 1.05-1.4 and a gage of 1.5-3 mm. When solid centers are molded using a mold having a number of cavities, little variations occur with respect to hardness and weight. Golf balls of consistent quality are obtained.
