Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for performing winding operations. In an apparatus for performing the process the winding shafts which are supported at one end only by supports are rotatably and directly driven and are axially displaceable into the winding area of a roll to be wound on which shafts winding cores are mounted before starting the winding operation.
Abstract:
In the transverse stretching of webs of plastic film, in which the edges of the film are continuously held by holding elements while the web is being moved longitudinally, the distribution of flow lines is improved and the differences in thickness within the web are reduced, by asynchronously transversely stretching the web as by causing divergence of first one and then the other edge of the film relative to the direction of longitudinal movement. Preferably the respective divergences are geometrically identical, and/or are periodically displaced in the direction of the longitudinal axis and/or of the transverse axis of the web. The invention may be applied in multi-stage stretching processes and also in simultaneous transverse/longitudinal stretching processes.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method and apparatus for equalizing longitudinal variations in the running of a web under tension, wherein the web is passed over a support therefor which is at least partially oscillatable in accordance with the longitudinal variations of the web and the oscillatable portions of which are of such low inertia that they oscillate in phase with the oscillating web, and the non-oscillating portions of the web are supported.
Abstract:
Apparatus is disclosed for performing the winding-up of webs, preferably of several webs slit from a single web. The apparatus comprises opposed rotatable winding shafts supported at one end only by supports, and means for axially displacing at least one of the winding shafts in the support into a predetermined winding area, the winding shafts when displaced being adapted to support winding cores for a winding roll.
