    Abstract: The present invention relates to a water-based ink that exhibits excellent ejection properties, and can be prevented from suffering from reduction in a dot size of the ink during a drying step thereof even when printed on a low-water absorbing recording medium, and is capable of obtaining printed characters or images having excellent uniformity, as well as an ink-jet printing method using the water-based ink. The water-based ink includes a pigment, a water-insoluble polymer, an acetylene glycol-based nonionic surfactant (A) having HLB of not less than 0 and not more than 5, a nonionic surfactant (B) having HLB of not less than 6 and not more than 20, a polyether-modified silicone (C) having a kinematic viscosity of not less than 30 mm2/s and not more than 190 mm2/s as measured at 25° C. and an organic solvent (D), in which a weighted mean value of a boiling point of the organic solvent (D) is not lower than 150° C. and not higher than 230° C.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a toner for electrophotography including core-shell particles as a resin binder each including a core portion containing an amorphous resin (A) having a softening point of 105° C. or lower which is obtained by polycondensing a carboxylic acid component containing an alkenyl succinic acid with an alcohol component; and a shell portion containing an amorphous resin (B) obtained by polycondensing an alcohol component containing an aliphatic diol having 2 to 6 carbon atoms with a carboxylic acid component containing a trivalent or higher-valent polycarboxylic acid compound in an amount of 20 mol % or less. The toner for electrophotography according to the present invention is excellent in heat resistant storage property, low-temperature fusing property and durability.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a water-based ink including a pigment, a water-insoluble polymer, an organic solvent and a surfactant, in which the organic solvent includes at least a glycol ether which has a viscosity of from 2.0 to 7.0 mPa·s and a vapor pressure from 0.01 to 7.0 hPa as measured at 20° C., and a content of a glycol ether having a viscosity of not less than 6.0 mPa·s as measured at 20° C. as a component of the glycol ether in the water-based ink is from 0 to 5% by mass; the surfactant includes a silicone-based surfactant and a content of the silicone-based surfactant in the water-based ink is from 0.005 to 0.3% by mass; a content of the organic solvent in the water-based ink is from 25 to 50% by mass; and a content of a high-boiling organic solvent in the water-based ink is not more than 5% by mass, an ink set for ink-jet printing including two or more kinds of water-based inks which are each constituted of the aforementioned water-based ink, and an ink-jet printing method including the steps of ejecting the aforementioned water-based ink onto a printing medium, and further ejecting the water-based ink onto the printing medium to overstrike the water-based ink onto the water-based ink that has been ejected onto the printing medium in the previous step. The water-based ink of the present invention is excellent in continuous ejection properties, and is capable of obtaining good printed materials that are free of roller transfer contamination and intercolor bleeding owing to overstriking of the inks even when printed on a non-water absorbing printing medium.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing a resin particle dispersion, including a step (1) of mixing a polyester resin and a basic aqueous solution to obtain a resin neutralized product; and a step (2) of adding an aqueous medium to the resin neutralized product obtained in the step (1) to emulsify the resin neutralized product, in which a concentration of an ester group in the polyester resin is from 6.3 to 12 mmol/g, a pH of the basic aqueous solution as measured at 25° C. is from 8.5 to 13.5, and a content of an organic solvent in the resin neutralized product is not more than 10% by mass; and a process for producing a toner for development of electrostatic images, including steps of aggregating and coalescing the resin particles in the obtained resin particle dispersion. The present invention provides a process for producing a dispersion of resin particles having a small particle size and a narrow particle size distribution, and a process for producing a toner that has a narrow particle size distribution and is excellent in dot reproducibility and charge stability.
