Abstract: An improved chair swivel includes a housing tube which may be attached to the chair legs. Within the tube is a stationary cam and a movable cam. The movable cam is attached to a spindle that engages the chair seat. The movable cam is biased into engagement with the stationary cam and has a normal rest position. Upon rotation of the chair seat, the movable cam is driven from the normal rest position by the spindle. Release of the force on the chair seat permits the seat to return to its normal rest position.
