Abstract:
An improved chair swivel includes a housing tube which may be attached to the chair legs. Within the tube is a stationary cam and a movable cam. The movable cam is attached to a spindle that engages the chair seat. The movable cam is biased into engagement with the stationary cam and has a normal rest position. Upon rotation of the chair seat, the movable cam is driven from the normal rest position by the spindle. Release of the force on the chair seat permits the seat to return to its normal rest position.
Abstract:
An interlocking dead bolt lock and strike assembly having a lock housing enclosing a rotatable actuator for a lock bolt reciprocable between a retracted and a dead-locked position, an idler cooperating with the actuator for a key-operated lock actuation, and an extension on the housing acting to enclose the strike and cover the lock bolt in its projected dead-locked position. The housing may also include a reciprocable flag indicating when the bolt is projected, and an interior tumbler lock mounted on the housing which, when turned to one position allows the bolt to be operated by an exterior tumbler lock, and when rotated to a position 180* therefrom, prevents the exterior tumbler lock from operating the lock bolt.
Abstract:
A TOUCH DEVICE FOR CABINET DRAWERS OR CLOSURES WHICH WILL ACT TO AUTOMATICALLY PARTIALLLY OPEN THE DRAWER, CLOSURE OR DOOR UPON MANUALL ACTUATION AND MAY LATCH THE DRAWER OR DOOR IN CLOSED POSITION, SO THAT THE DRAWER OR DOOR DOES NOT REQUIRE A HANDLE OR PULL ON THE EXTERIOR SURFACE THEREOF. THE DEVICE INCLUDE A HOUSING MOUNTED IN THE CABINET OR ENCLOSURE WITH AN ELONGATED PLUNGER PROJECTING FROM ONE END, WITH THE INNER END OF THE PLUNGER ENGAGING A GENERALLY RECIPROCABLLE ACTUATING MEMBER HAVING LIMITED ARCUATE MOVEMENT. A U-SHAPED PUSHER IS SPRING-BIASED TO ENGAGE THE ACTUATING MEMBER, AND THE ACTUATING MEMBER IS PROVIDED WITH A HOOK AT ONE END COOPERATING WITH THE INNER ENLARGED AND RECESSED END OF THE PLUNGER AND A LATERALLY EXTENDING SECOND HOOK AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE MEMBER COOPERATING WITH AN OPENING FORMED IN THE SIDE WALL OF THE HOUSING. MOVEMENT OF THE DRAWER OR CLOSURE INWARD RETRACTS THE PLUNGER AND CAUSES THE ACTUATING MEMBER TO ENGAGE THE HOUSING AND PLUNGER TO PREVENT OUTWARD MOVEMENT THEREOF, AND PRESSURE EXERTED ON THE CLOSED DRAWER OR CLOSURE CAUSES RELEASE OF THE ACTUATING MEMBER SO THAT THE SPRING BIASES THE PLUNGER OUTWARDLY TO PARTIALLY OPEN THE DRAWER OR CLOSURE.
Abstract:
A HEAVY DUTY CASTER AXLE HAVING AN INTEGRAL GREASE FITTING FORMED AT ONE END PROTECTED BY A RADIALLY AND FORWARDLY EXTENDING ANNULAR FLANGE WHICH SUBSTANTIALLY ENCOMPASSES THE GREASE FITTING. AN AXIAL PASSAGE IS FORMED THROUGH THE GREASE FITTING AND EXTENDS INTO THE AXLE TO TERMINATE IN A DIAMETRICALLY EXTENDING PASSAGE OPENING TO THE EXTERIOR SURFACE THEREOF. THE AXLE AND FITTING ARE FORMED FROM A CYLINDRICAL BLANK BY THE STEPS OF FORMING AN ENLARGED RADIAL FLANGE SPACED FROM ONE END OF THE
BLANK, FORMING THE END OF THE BLANK AT THE FLANGE TO PROVIDE THE OUTLINE OF THE FITTING, DRILLING AN AXIAL PASSAGE INTO THE FORMED END AND SHANK AND A TRANSVERSE PASSAGE, AND EITHER FORMING THE FLANGE INTO A PROTECTIVE CUP OR ATTACHING A PROTECTIVE CUP ONTO THE FITTING END AND FLANGE.
Abstract:
A spring hinge construction for an overlay door for a metal cabinet or other enclosure where the hinge provides the door with a positive closed position and a positive holding 90* open position, with the hinge having a toggle with an overcenter position for both the 90* open and the closed positions. The hinge includes an L-shaped cabinet wing and a channel-shaped door wing joined at a pivotal axis, an elongated toggle having one end adapted to project through a wall of the door wing during opening or closing movement and an enlarged opposite end engaging the cabinet wing adjacent the pivot axis. A compression spring encompasses the toggle with one end engaging the enlarged end of the toggle and the opposite end abutting the above-mentioned wall of the door wing.
