Abstract: A rope wheel assembly of an elevator includes a frame, a plurality of rope wheels for guiding ropes of the elevator, and a plurality of bearings. The rope wheels are mounted coaxially on the frame such that they are rotatable relative to the frame as well as relative to each other. The rope wheel assembly includes a central shaft passing through the rope wheels, which central shaft is non-rotatable relative to the frame, and the rope wheel assembly includes a hollow cylinder surrounding the central shaft, the hollow cylinder being mounted on the central shaft rotatably relative to the central shaft, each said rope wheel being mounted on the cylinder rotatably relative to the cylinder. The rope wheel assembly includes a bearing axially between rope wheels that are next to each other via which bearing they are supported on each other in axial direction. A compensator and an elevator arrangement implementing the rope wheel assembly are also disclosed.

Abstract: In an elevator system, so as to avoid unwanted safety gear tripping, the kinetic energy, which is caused by inertia of the overspeed governor rope to the lever arm, is dissipated by implementing fluid viscous damping to dampen the rotary movement of the spindle shaft to prevent unwanted safety gear tripping in the event when the upwards movement of the moving mass is decelerated by a machinery brake to perform a quick stop of the moving mass. The fluid viscous damping is effected by a viscous fluid damper which is arranged in the synchronization linkage mounted to the moving mass.

Abstract: An elevator includes a hoistway; an elevator car vertically movable in the hoistway, the passage to and/or from the elevator car being provided in depth direction of the hoistway; a counterweight vertically movable in the hoistway beside the elevator car in width direction of the hoistway; one or more ropes interconnecting the elevator car and the counterweight and hanging from these; a rope wheel arrangement in the bottom end of the hoistway for guiding the one or more ropes; and a vertically oriented guide rail for guiding the elevator car extending between the elevator car and counterweight. The elevator includes a bridge structure mounted on the floor of the hoistway, the bridge structure including a cross member, wherein the guide rail for guiding the elevator car is mounted on top of the cross member, the bridge structure including a passage for the one or more ropes below the cross member, and the one or more ropes pass from the counterweight downwards to the rope wheel arrangement, and the rope wheel arrangement is arranged to guide the one or more ropes to pass below the cross member via said passage and up to the elevator car.
