Abstract:
The image forming apparatus includes a crimping/release mechanism that switches between a crimping position where a transfer nip is formed and a release position where the intermediate transfer belt and the photosensitive drum are separated from each other, by moving at least one primary transfer section of a plurality of primary transfer sections provided facing a plurality of photosensitive drums respectively, and a processor that performs color misregistration adjustment when a combination of image forming units used for image formation is changed.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes halogen lamp heaters, an AC power supply, a temperature detection unit and a control unit. The heaters have a same light distribution and heat a fixing member of an image fixing unit. The detection unit detects a temperature of the fixing member. The control unit determines a combination of the heaters based on output of the detection unit and applies a drive voltage of a half-wave of an AC waveform of the AC power supply to a heater of the heaters. The half-wave is selected based on an application pattern having a duty cycle of a predetermined value or more. The heaters include at least one heater which generates a heat amount being a minimum heat amount required for fixing or less when turned on with the application pattern having the duty cycle of the predetermined value.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus that controls to cut off exciting currents supplied to a plurality of motors to drive conveyance roller pairs after a leading end of a paper sheet is brought in contact with a registration roller pair, and, when cutting off the exciting currents, cut off the exciting current for at least one of the motors at a different timing from the other motors.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes: a fixer that includes a first heater group including first heaters and a second heater group including second heaters; a first power cord that supplies AC power to the first heater group; a second power cord that supplies AC power to the second heater group; first switches that switch a power supply state to the first heaters; second switches that switch a power supply state to the second heaters; and a hardware processor that independently controls the lightings of the first and second heater groups by controlling the first and second switches based on an array pattern for turning on or off the first and second heaters, wherein the array pattern includes an on period and an off period whose lengths are both a half wave cycle of an AC power supply, and is set to satisfy a flicker regulation value.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes first and second heaters and a controller. The first and second heaters have a same light distribution and heat a roller of an image fixing unit. The second heater generates a less heat amount than the first heater. The controller applies a drive voltage to a heater of the heaters. When a heat amount generated by the second heater has increased to a first threshold value by the controller controlling the drive voltage, the controller switches the drive-voltage-applied heater from the second heater to the first heater. When a heat amount generated by the first heater has decreased to a second threshold value smaller than the first threshold value by the controller controlling the drive voltage, the controller switches the drive-voltage-applied heater from the first heater to the second heater.
Abstract:
A fixing apparatus included in an image forming apparatus includes a fixing heater that performs heat fixing, a control unit that controls the fixing heater based on control patterns, a temperature sensor that detects temperature of the fixing heater, and a voltage detection unit that detects a voltage that is applied to the fixing heater. In each control pattern, turn-on period of the fixing heater and turn-off period of the fixing heater are set according to a control cycle of a half cycle duty control. The control unit controls the switching unit to turn on or off the fixing heater using a combination of the control patterns each satisfying a standard for preventing a flicker during each control period of time that is integral multiplication of the control cycle according to the temperature of the fixing heater and the voltage value allied to the fixing heater.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus receives setting of an object to be adjusted, on an adjustment object selection screen when selecting an adjustment mode. After the object to be adjusted is set, camera(s) photograph(s) the object to be adjusted so that the image forming apparatus obtains photographed data of current object to be adjusted. Next, the apparatus searches photographed data of the object to be adjusted in the ideal state thereof from the database. Name of the object to be adjusted and related information in the photographed data agree with those of the photographed data of current object to be adjusted. The higher ranked related information is preferentially searched and it is determined whether or not pieces of the higher ranked related information thus preferentially searched agree with each other.
Abstract:
A sheet conveyance apparatus includes: a speed detection roller that detects a conveyance speed of a sheet by coming into contact with the sheet being conveyed and being driven to rotate; and a hardware processor that performs temperature control to make an ambient temperature of the speed detection roller a predetermined temperature.

A fixing device includes: a fixing unit which heats a recording medium to fix a color material adhered to the recording medium; a first heater which heats the fixing unit; a second heater with rated power smaller than the rated power of the first heater which heats the fixing unit; and a controller which performs preliminary control of energizing the second heater when heating of the fixing unit by the first heater is started and energizing control of stepping up power consumption of the first heater and stepping down the power consumption of the second heater such that a change amount when a sum of the power consumption of the first heater and the power consumption of the second heater changes becomes a value to make a flicker value indicating a degree of a flicker not larger than a predetermined standard value after executing the preliminary control.
