Abstract: The quality of thoracic X-rays is depends on the inspiration state of an imaged patient. If the lungs of a patient are not significantly inflated during a thoracic X-ray, tissue from surrounding organs can cause the image to become cloudier, and the lung parenchyma is not effectively shown. Thus, there is a reliance on a medical professional to ensure that the patient is in an appropriate posture and inspiration state at the point of image exposure. This can be difficult with patients suffering from chronic conditions, though. Therefore, this application discusses a means to assess the inspiration state using the position of rib bones, and the diaphragm line in the X-ray image. Thus, an accurate estimate of inspiration state can automatically be reported to a medical professional, before a patient leaves the examination room, allowing an X-ray to be retaken, if necessary.

Abstract: A system is provided for detecting lung abnormalities in a subject. The system comprises a first sensor, for sensing a first acoustic signal generated by, or applied to, the subject and an arrangement of one or more second sensors for detecting a plurality of second acoustic signals from the lungs of the subject, wherein the second acoustic signals comprise attenuated versions of the first acoustic signal after passing through the lungs of the subject. The system further comprises a processor, wherein the processor is configured to determine a respective signal attenuation between the first acoustic signal and at least a subset of the plurality of second acoustic signals and process the signal attenuations thereby to detect a lung abnormality.

Abstract: The invention provides a system for assessing ear pathologies in a subject. The system includes an earplug configured to be at least partially inserted in the ear canal of an ear of a subject. The earplug comprises a pressure sensor adapted to generate passive pressure signals representative of passive pressure changes within the ear canal induced by maneuvers performed by the subject, wherein characteristics of the passive pressure signals are representative of one or more ear pathologies.

Abstract: The invention relates to an X-ray image analysis system (4) comprising an X-ray image input interface (8) and a computing unit (9). The X-ray image input interface (8) is configured to receive X-ray images (14) taken by an X-ray imaging system (1) comprising an X-ray source (2) and an X-ray detector (3). The computing unit (9) is connected to the X-ray image input interface (8) and configured to obtain at least one X-ray image (14) from the X-ray image input interface (8) and perform a scapula position detection, including inputting the X-ray image (14) into a trained machine-learning system, running the trained machine-learning system, and obtaining a scapula position. The computing unit (9) is further configured to transmit scapula position information from a scapula position information output interface (10) to a display (5). The invention further relates to an X-ray imaging system (1) comprising an X-ray source (2), an X-ray detector (3), an X-ray image analysis system (4) according to the above description, and the display (5) configured to receive and display the scapula position information as well as to a method for analyzing an X-ray image.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an X-ray device, an X-ray system and a method of operation thereof. An operator and a patient are identified by an ID-system comprising one or more ID-means. The operator expertise level is determined. Image acquisition for generating an X-ray image is performed by using an interface for adaptive interaction of the operator and X-ray device. The interface is adapted for outputting at least one option selector. At least one subsequent option selector is adapted according to the operator expertise level and/or object data.
