    Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a filtering processing unit that executes a filtering process to suppress background noise of input image data; a threshold setting unit that sets a binarization threshold for the input image data; a background noise determination threshold setting unit that determines that a tone value at which the number of pixels of background noise of the input image data reaches a peak is a background peak tone value and that sets, as a background noise determination threshold, a tone value having a density higher than a density of the background peak tone value and having a number of pixels within a specific range of percentages, of the number of pixels at the peak; a background noise reduction processing unit that executes a background noise reduction process on the input image data and a binarization processing unit that executes a binarization process on the input image data.

    Abstract: In an image forming apparatus, a communication device performs data communication with an external user terminal apparatus, and a job managing unit receives a print job request from the user terminal apparatus using the communication device. Further, when receiving the print job request from the user terminal apparatus, the job managing unit determines whether there is a user who is physically directly using the image forming apparatus or not, if there is not a user who is physically directly using the image forming apparatus, allows the print job request and if there is a user who is physically directly using the image forming apparatus, determines whether the print job request should be refused or not, and if the print job request should not be refused, allows the print job request and if the print job request should be refused, refuses the print job request.

    Abstract: Provided is a document reading device that can cause an image processing part to execute automatically image processing operations corresponding to respective plural functions, depending on a document mounting condition on a platen without performing a setting operation on a panel part. A system control part causes a document detection sensor to detect a part (periphery) of the document. The image processing operations corresponding to respective plural functions are made on image data of the document read by a scanner part. Further, when the platen cover plate open-close detection sensor detects that the platen cover plate is closed, the image processing part is allowed to execute a function that is assigned to the document detection part that has read the document.

    Abstract: Provided is an image reading apparatus that instantaneously executes functions and settings with the setting of a document on a platen glass, and an image forming apparatus. The image reading part according to the present disclosure includes a platen cover, an opening and closing detecting part, and an operation executing part. The document placing position detecting part acquires position placing data by pre-scan of a scanner, when opening of the platen cover is detected, after the opening of the platen cover is detected, and detects a placing position of a document placed on the platen glass based on the acquired placing position detecting data. The operation executing part receives selection of functions corresponding to the placing position detected by the document placing position detecting part and executes the selected function.
