摘要： The invention provides a developer supply device, a developer container, a developer and an image forming apparatus such that the developer is discharged stably from the developer container with a stable toner concentration in the developer, without damaging the developer, and in a relatively simple and small-size device having a relatively high degree of freedom as regards layout. The developer supply device comprises a partially or wholly deformable developer container and a pump for suctioning the developer held in the developer container, together with a gas, and for discharging the developer towards a developing unit. The toner comprises an additive formed so as to have a volume average particle size of 50 to 500 nm. The carrier is formed so as to have a weight average particle size of 20 to 60 μm. The developer is formed so that the carrier concentration thereof is 1 to 30 wt %.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearer, a toner image forming device, an image reader, and a control unit. The toner image forming device forms a test toner image on the image bearer. The image reader reads the test toner image and a predetermined reference member. The control unit calculates an amount of toner contained in the test toner image based on image data from the test toner image. Based on image data from the reference member, the control unit selects a position of a pixel to be used for calculation of the amount of toner contained in the test toner image from pixels included in the image data from the reference member, to calculate the amount of toner contained in the test toner image from data of a pixel located at the position thus selected among pixels included in the image data from the test toner image.

The controller forms a shading pattern image including a plurality of patches on the image bearer, and detects image density of the plurality of patches, so as to control image density. The shading pattern image is shorter in the rotational direction of the image bearer than in the width direction of the image bearer.
