Abstract:
A includes a main body portion defining a waste holding chamber, a vent path extending from the waste holding chamber to atmosphere, and a float member. The float member is coupled to the tank for movement between a first position and a second position. The float member is movable from the first position to the second position in response to an increase in fluid level within the storage chamber. The vent passage remains open for venting the storage chamber when the float member is in the first position and is blocks the vent passage in the second position.
Abstract:
A metal cutting band saw blade has a plurality of cutting teeth defining a cutting direction, and a repeating tooth pattern of between 3 and 7 teeth. Each tooth defines a laterally-extending upper surface having a width and a height with respect to the back edge of the blade, and side surfaces extending laterally and downwardly on opposite sides of the upper surface relative to each other at acute angles relative to the upper surface. The teeth located rearwardly of the first tooth with respect to the cutting direction of the saw blade define progressively lower heights and progressively smaller acute angles of the side surfaces, and the widths of the upper surfaces of these teeth are greater than the width of the upper surface of the respective first tooth.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forming a net or near net shaped work surface includes providing a substrate and engaging a die with the substrate forming a die cavity enclosing a portion of the substrate. A powdered metal is introduced into the cavity, heated prior to and within the die cavity, and pressurized to consolidate the powdered metal. The die is then disengaged from the substrate. In one exemplary embodiment, the work surface forms the cutting teeth of a saw blade.
Abstract:
A position transducer having first and second spaced apart resistive surfaces (22, 24), the first resistive surface (22) being connected to a first pair of spaced apart and substantially parallel electrodes (14) and the second resistive surface (24) being connected to a second pair of spaced apart and substantially parallel electrodes (16) orientated at substantially right angles to the first pair of electrodes, wherein at least one of the resistive surfaces is capable of being bent to touch the other surface such that current can flow from one of the first pair electrodes to one of the second pair electrodes via the resistive surfaces.
Abstract:
Platform cooling having a guide-blade platform (30; 60) which is subjected to a hot-gas stream (20) and is separated by a gap (36; 66) from a combustion-chamber segment (40; 70) arranged upstream, one or more segment cooling bores (42; 72) being made in the combustion-chamber segment (40; 70), which segment cooling bores (42; 72) connect a cooling-air chamber (44; 74) to the gap (36; 66). The guide-blade platform (30; 60) has a surface (34; 64) on the downstream side in the region of the gap (36; 66), the axes of the one or more segment cooling bores (42; 72) running roughly tangentially to said surface (34; 64).
Abstract:
A coolable blade (10) essentially comprises a blade root (11) and a blade body (1), which is composed of a pressure-side wall (6) and a suction-side wall (5). They are connected to one another essentially via a trailing-edge region (4) and a leading-edge region (3) in such a way that at least one hollow space (2) used as a cooling-fluid passage is formed, in which ribs (7) are arranged. At least one rib (7) is configured in such a way that it has an apex (9) and two legs (14, 15), the legs (14, 15) of the rib being bent at an acute angle (8) relative to a radial plane (13). It is especially advantageous to arrange these ribs in a hollow space of double triangular shape having acute-angled triangular points in the region of the leading edge and the trailing edge.
Abstract:
A skate boot is described which includes an overlapping tension strap extending from the medial side of the outer sole to the medial lacing band, and the lacing passes through eyelets provided in the tension strap. The lacing bands are arranged such that in the bottom portion thereof below the tarsis, they are symmetrical to a line drawn approximately over the highest ridge of the dorsal of the foot, that is, at the first or second metatarsal and above the tarsis they are symmetrical with the axis of the anterior tibial tendon so that the lacing is evenly distributed on either side of the highest ridge of the foot in these areas. A liner is provided in the rear part of the boot such as to provide lateral support. The liner is relatively stiff but is provided with cutouts allowing the boot to flex in the dorsal-plantar flexion direction.
Abstract:
A solid anhydrous 1:1 molar compound of phosphoric acid and diisopropyl ether is prepared from a mixture of the ether and phosphoric acid in a molar ratio (R:1) of 0.6:1 to 1.4:1 at a temperature at least as low as the crystallization temperature (T.degree.C) governed by the relationship T = 25(1.2-R). Treatment of the compound with water or a base produces purified acid or a phosphate respectively.
Abstract:
A duplex fiber optic splice has a fiber-receiving element, two clamping elements covering opposite faces of the fiber-receiving element, and a spring element. A bearing key may be inserted into a bearing channel in the fiber-receiving element and rotated resulting in resilient disengagement of each of said clamping faces from said fiber-receiving element face. The resilient disengagement of the clamping elements are independent of each other. The splice assembly may be used alone or in conjunction with an array ferrule, pre-terminated with a fiber stub, and a housing to provide an adhesiveless field terminable connector.
