    摘要: Disclosed is a tightening mechanism (1400) for use with a footwear lacing system. The tightening mechanism comprises: a lace (23), a housing (1460), a spool assembly (1480) including a spool (1482) having an annular groove (1483) and a separate main gear (1486) mechanically attached to the spool, the spool assembly being positioned within the inner cavity of the housing; a housing cover (1490) removably secured to the housing; and a rotatable knob assembly (1550) including a knob (1560) and a pinion gear (1552) having pinion gear teeth (1556) movable into or out of engagement with the main gear teeth (1496) by moving knob assembly (1550) along the axis of rotation (A) of the knob (1560) towards or away from housing assembly (1450). The spool assembly (1480) is off axis from the knob assembly (1550) to allow the tightening mechanism (1400) to maintain a low profile. In a disengaged state, the pinion gear (1552) is disengaged from the main gear (1486) to allow free rotation of the spool assembly (1480). The tightening mechanism (1400) allows incremental adjustment of the tension of the lace and also allows a user to quickly loosen the lace, whilst inhibiting unintentional and/or accidental loosing of the lace.

The lace extends through a series of guide members positioned along two opposing footwear closure portions. The lace and guides preferably have low friction surfaces to facilitate sliding of the lace along the guide members so that the lace evenly distributes tension across the footwear member. The tightening mechanism allows incremental adjustment of the tension of the lace. The closure system allows a user to quickly loosen the lace and inhibits unintentional and/or accidental loosing of the lace.

    摘要: The inventive skate consists of an upper that is designed to accept the foot of the user. Other portions of the upper are preferably constructed using a semi-rigid material, such as fiberglass, nylon, plastic, etc. These semi-rigid portions of the upper decrease the flexibility of the upper in certain sections, thus increasing performance. The inventive skate also includes a blade chassis. The chassis includes a lower portion that is adapted to hold the skate's blade and an upper portion that is adapted to cover a portion of the upper. The inventive skate is configured so that the center of gravity of the skater is disposed generally centrally along the length of the skate chassis. This skate configuration is generally referred to as neutral pitch.

    摘要: A rigid shoe shell of a skate has a heel portion, two quarter portions respectively extending from two opposite sides of the heel portion, and at least one resilient cushion region formed on an upper edge of the rigid shoe shell. In some embodiments each of the at least one resilient cushion region has multiple strips that have an upper distal end being a free end. Since the strips are bendable, the upper edge of the rigid shoe shell resiliently presses against a lower leg of a wearer of the skate without rubbing against the lower leg of the wearer, thereby providing good protection effect.
