    摘要: This invention relates to thermally spray coated work rolls for use in metal or metal alloy, e.g., aluminum alloy, sheet manufacture comprising a cylindrical-like structure having an outer peripheral surface and a thermally sprayed coating on the outer peripheral surface of said cylindrical-like structure, said thermally sprayed coating comprising from about 65 to about 95 weight percent of one or more Group VI metal carbides, and from about 5 to about 35 weight percent of one or more transition metals selected from chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt and nickel. This invention also relates to a process for preparing the work rolls for use in metal or metal alloy, e.g., aluminum alloy, sheet manufacture, a method for manufacturing metal or metal alloy, e.g., aluminum alloy, sheet using the thermally spray coated work rolls, and a thermal spray powder for coating the outer peripheral surface of the work rolls for use in metal or metal alloy, e.g., aluminum alloy, sheet manufacture.

    摘要: A pretreatment composition for metal that provides enhanced corrosion resistance, enhanced paint adhesion and reduced chip damage to a wide variety of metal substrates. The pretreatment is also cleaner because it is based on zirconium rather than zinc phosphates. The pretreatment coating composition in use preferably comprises 50 to 300 parts per million (ppm) zirconium, 0 to 100 ppm of SiO2, 150-2000 ppm of total fluorine and 10-100 ppm of free fluorine, 150 to 10000 ppm of zinc and 10 to 10000 ppm of an oxidizing agent and has a pH of 3.0 to 5.0, preferably about 4.0. The coating composition can optionally include 0 to 50 ppm of copper. The suitable oxidizing agents can be selected from a large group.

    摘要: An aluminizing composition includes an aluminum-based powder, an inert organic pyrolysable thickener, and a binder selected from the group consisting of colloidal silica, at least one organic resin, and combinations thereof. A method for aluminizing an internal passage of a metal substrate comprises injecting the organic- based aluminizing composition into the internal passage, heat treating the composition under conditions sufficient to remove volatile components from the composition, to cause diffusion of aluminum into surface regions of the internal passage, and to cause decomposition of at least some pyrolysable thickener particles, and burnishing excess material from the internal passage.

    摘要: A thermal spray composition and method of deposition for abradable seals for use in gas turbine engines, turbochargers and steam turbines. The thermal spray composition comprises a mixture of metal-clad solid lubricant particles and unclad solid lubricants particles for producing an abradable seal used in the compressor section of gas engines, aircraft engines, radial compressors and the like. The metal is selected from alloys of Ni, Co, Cu, Fe and Al, preferably Ni alloys, and the solid lubricant is at least one of hexagonal boron nitride, graphite, calcium fluoride, lithium fluoride and molybdenum disulphide, preferably hexagonal boron nitride or hexagonal boron nitride and graphite.
