    摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a process cartridge, a toner storage, and a toner supplying unit. The process cartridge includes an image bearing member, a developer container, a developer bearing member, and a pair of side plates. The developer container includes a toner inlet mounted at a predetermined position on one of its top surface. The pair of side plates are arranged in parallel and separated by a predetermined distance which determines a predetermined longitudinal width of the process cartridge and configured to support the components in the process cartridge.

    摘要： A developing device includes a developer bearer to carry, by rotation, developer including toner and magnetic carrier to a development range facing a latent image bearer, and the developer bearer includes a magnetic field generator having multiple magnetic poles and a cylindrical developing sleeve to rotate and bear developer on an outer circumferential face thereof with magnetic force of the magnetic field generator provided inside the developing sleeve. The developing sleeve receives developing bias voltage including an AC component, and includes a base to maintain a cylindrical shape of the developing sleeve and a low friction surface layer including a material lower in friction coefficient with toner than a material of the base.

    摘要： A developing unit includes a developer carrying member, a supplying compartment, a recovery compartment, and an agitation compartment. The developer carrying member develops a latent image formed on an image carrier with a two-component developer. The supplying compartment has a developer supplying transporter to supply the two-component developer to the developer carrying member while transporting the two-component developer. The recovery compartment has a developer recovery transporter to transport the two-component developer recovered from the developer carrying member. The agitation compartment has a developer agitation transporter to agitatingly transports developer. The developer agitation transporter includes a first screw having a screw pitch to transport developer to an upstream end of the supplying compartment from a downstream end of the agitation compartment. The developer supplying transporter includes a second screw having a given screw pitch, which is greater than a screw pitch of the first screw.

    摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a developer conveyance device to transport developer, using a positive-displacement pump to alternately generate positive pressure and negative pressure by changing a volume of an internal space thereof, a destination developer container to which the developer conveyance device transports developer, a sensor provided to the destination developer container, to detect developer in the destination developer container, and a controller to control the positive-displacement pump according to a detection result generated by the sensor. The controller disabled detection of developer by the sensor in a non-detection period that starts from a stop of the positive-displacement pump.
