Said trisazo compound or a salt thereof provides a coloring matter compound for black ink and an ink composition thereof where they have high solubility in medium where water is a principal component, their aqueous solution and ink having high concentration is stable even when stored for a long period of time, printed images therewith have very high density, no bronzing is caused on the images printed even with their high concentration solution, and they give black recorded images excellent in fastnesses, particularly in both light fastness and ozone gas fastness.
