The present invention provides an organic acid metal salt obtained by reacting a saturated monocarboxylic acid or its salt and an inorganic magnesium compound. The saturated monocarboxylic acid or its salt contains at least 97 wt % of a saturated monocarboxylic acid having 4 to 10 carbon atoms or its salt, and the organic acid metal salt contains at least 99 wt % of an organic acid magnesium salt. This organic acid metal salt consists essentially of an organic acid magnesium salt, and has excellent solubility in an alcohol solvent or a mixed solvent containing at least 5 wt % of an alcohol solvent and excellent temporal stability when being formed into a coating liquid for forming a magnesium oxide film. A coating film obtained from this coating liquid has excellent uniformity and provides a highly transparent magnesium oxide film having a thickness suitable for practical use by baking. At the time of baking after coating, there is no solvent residue in the film and environmental pollutant gas such as NOx is not emitted.

The surfactant is contained in a ratio of 0.01 wt % or more and 2.5 wt % or less, and the polyhydric alcohol compound is contained in a ratio of 0.05 wt % or more and 40 wt % or less, based on a weight of the entire coating liquid. The magnesium carboxylate content is the same with or larger than that of the polyhydric alcohol compound, and a total weight of the magnesium carboxylate and the polyhydric alcohol compound is 80 wt % or less of the weight of the entire coating liquid; and wherein the magnesium carboxylate, the surfactant, and the polyhydric alcohol compound are dissolved in the solvent.

A mixed powder is obtained by adding at least one kind of solid ester wax to an iron-based powder for powder metallurgy use. The mixed powder is molded. The melting point of the ester wax is 100° C. or lower, the quantity of the ester wax added is in the range of 0.02 wt % or more to 0.6 wt % or less, and the temperature of the mold when the molding is performed is set in a range of (the melting point of the ester wax+10° C.) or more to 200° C. or less. The ester wax thereby liquefies on the surface of the mold and bleeds out when the molding is performed. As a result, molded sintered parts with complex shapes, good surface characteristics, and high densities can be easily obtained.

There are disclosed metallic soap fine particles which have an average particle size of 4 .mu.m or smaller and have a content of particles having particle sizes of 10 .mu.m or larger of at most 4% by weight based on the whole metallic soap fine particles; a process for producing the metallic soap fine particles, comprising mixing (a) an aqueous solution containing 0.001 to 20% by weight of an alkali metal salt or an ammonium salt of a fatty acid having 4 to 30 carbon atoms with (b) an aqueous solution or dispersion containing 0.001 to 20% by weight of an inorganic metal salt at a specific temperature to form a slurry of the metallic soap, and drying the resultant slurry at a specific temperature. The metallic soap, which has remarkably fine particles and narrow particle size distribution, is well suited for use e.g. as a toner additive in an electrophotographic copying machine by virtue of the improvements in blocking resistance, fluidity and eliminability of the toner, and also as a cleaning aid in the same owing to the improvement in cleaning performance for residual toner without impairing the surface of a picture image support.
