In this storage system, the one or more storage controllers include a storage unit for forming two or more logical volumes to be pair-configured in a storage area of a plurality of hard disk drives, and storing as pair definition information the status of not executing initial copy of data to be stored in a pair-configured copy source logical volume to a copy destination logical volume based on a command from the management terminal.
