Abstract: A method for detecting an entrapment situation inside an elevator car includes receiving an inoperable notification indicating an inoperable condition of the elevator car; obtaining from at least one imaging device arranged inside the elevator car real-time image data of the interior of the elevator car; detecting one or more human objects inside the elevator car by performing a detection procedure based on the obtained real-time image data and a at least one previously generated reference image; and generating a signal indicating a detection of the entrapment situation. Generating of the at least one reference image includes obtaining from the at least one imaging device random image data of the interior of the elevator car, wherein the random image data includes a plurality of images captured in a plurality of random reference scenarios; and processing the obtained random image data to generate the at least one reference image. An elevator computing unit, a detection system, and a computer program for detecting an entrapment situation inside an elevator car are also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to an elevator apparatus, comprising: a shaft, an elevator car vertically movable in the shaft, one or more ropes connected with the car, and a controller for controlling movement of the car. In order to detect sway in one or more elevator ropes connected with the car, the apparatus comprises at least one sensor unit arranged in the elevator shaft to detect sway and to produce a control signal indicating to the controller the detected sway. The controller compares the detected sway to a predetermined limit and prevents movement of the elevator car when sway reaches the predetermined limit.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for triggering an acquisition of image data of an empty elevator car. The method comprises obtaining door status data representing a status of the door of the elevator car, obtaining occupancy status data representing an occupancy status of the elevator car, detecting based on the obtained door status data that the door of the elevator car is closed, detecting based on the obtained occupancy status data that the elevator car is empty, and generating a control signal to an imaging device arranged inside the elevator car in response to the detecting that the door of the elevator car is closed and the elevator car is empty. The control signal comprises an instruction to trigger the acquisition of the image data of the empty elevator car. The invention relates also to a triggering system for triggering an acquisition of image data of an empty elevator car and to an elevator system comprising a triggering system.
