Abstract: The present invention relates to a holographic optical element having a volume hologram recording layer containing a photopolymer, and at least one adjacent layer that is in contact with the volume hologram recording layer and contains a resin and a thiol compound. According to the present invention, a means for improving the diffraction efficiency of a holographic optical element having a volume hologram recording layer is provided.
