摘要: Realizing low driving voltage, high contrast, and high response speed in an active matrix type liquid crystal display device of the in-plane switching mode type. The construction of the liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a pair of substrates whose spacing is determined by spacers placed in a non-displaying region, a liquid crystal layer filled in the space between said pair of substrates, a set of electrodes formed on the surface of one of the substrates of said pair of substrates for applying an electric field to said liquid crystal layer, and a pair of optical polarizers placed so that they enclose said liquid crystal layer and with their axes of polarization almost at right angles to each other, with the liquid crystal layer containing 40% or more weight percentage or 100% or less weight percentage of a constituent component with a dielectric anisotropy of &Dgr;∈≦1, the directions of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at the two surfaces between said liquid crystal layer and said pair of substrates being almost parallel, and with the axis of polarization of one of the polarizers being almost aligned with the direction of controlled orientation of liquid crystal molecules at said surfaces.

摘要: An organic light-emitting display device is provided that has prolonged service life, lowered wiring resistance that can lower power consumption, and that is easy to manufacture. In a first embodiment, a moisture capturing layer is provided between an upper electrode and a lower electrode. A second embodiment includes a metal substrate, an organic light-emitting element on the substrate and an upper transparent electrode connected to the substrate through a contact hole. In a third embodiment, a method is provided for forming a first organic compound including a light-emitting layer, heating the first organic compound in vacuo, and forming a second organic compound.

摘要: Disclosed is an organic light-emitting display device that comprises a light-emitting layer formable simply by a wet process and has a prolonged service life. Also disclosed is an organic light-emitting device that comprises an upper transparent electrode having a lowered wiring resistance that can lower wiring resistance-derived power consumption. Further disclosed are a method and an apparatus for manufacturing an organic light-emitting element having a prolonged service life. In a first embodiment, an organic light-emitting display device is provided that comprises a moisture capturing layer provided between an upper electrode and a lower electrode. In a second embodiment, an organic light-emitting apparatus is provided that comprises a metal substrate, an organic light-emitting element provided on the metal substrate, and an upper transparent electrode connected electrically to the metal substrate through a contact hole. In a third embodiment, a method for manufacturing an organic light-emitting element comprising a first organic compound including a light-emitting layer and a second organic compound is provided that comprises the steps of forming the first organic compound, heating the first organic compound in vacuo, and forming the second organic compound.

摘要: There is provided a liquid crystal device that exhibits excellent response properties over a wide temperature range even when the weight percentage of the polymerizable monomer used for generating polymers is decreased.
