    摘要： A method and apparatus for forming images on both surfaces of a sheet. To form such images a first column of images placed at the exposure position on an image bearing member on which images are arranged in at least two columns is recorded on one surface of the sheet, whereafter a second column of images on the image bearing member is moved to the exposure position. The second column of images placed at the exposure position is recorded on the other surface of the sheet. The image bearing member is moved in a direction parallel to the direction of arrangement of the images to dispose the next images to be recorded at the exposure position after the images have been recorded on both surfaces of the sheet.
