Device for monitoring the service life of the shaft of a turbine-generator set includes an analog computer circuit having a pair of inputs and an output, means for feeding to the inputs of the analog computer circuit electrical quantities proportional to the voltage and the current of the generator, the analog computer circuit having means for converting the electrical quantities that are proportional to the generator voltage and current to an electrical quantity proportional to the electrical torque in the air gap of the generator, a simulation circuit having an input connected to the output of the analog computer circuit for receiving therefrom the electrical quantity proportional to the electrical torque in the air gap of the generator, the simulation circuit comprising means for determining the torques in individual sections of the shaft of the turbine-generator set and having a multiplicity of outputs corresponding to the number of individual sections of the shaft, an analog-to-digital converter having an output and having inputs connected to the outputs of the simulation circuit for receiving therefrom analog data corresponding to the torques in individual sections of the shaft and converting them to corresponding digital data, a digital computer having an input connected to the output of the analog-to-digital converter and connected therethrough to the simulation circuit, a trouble-monitoring device connected parallel to the analog-to-digital converter, and having means for restricting the analog-to-digital converter to feed the digital data through the output thereof to the input of the digital computer only if a torque of extreme value is present in a section of the shaft, the digital computer having means for converting the digital data into signals proportional to the service life of the shaft.

A circuit for damping hunting oscillations of controlled electric machines. The circuit is provided with a measuring circuit for determining the hunting oscillations and an identifier circuit for determining the angle components of such hunting oscillations. A phase shifter circuit is provided for receiving the angle components produced by the identifier circuit and forming a hunting oscillation correction signal which is shifted in phase from the hunting oscillations by a predetermined phase angle. The hunting oscillation correction signal is conducted to a control unit of the electric machine. The invention is particularly useful in damping hunting by the rotors of voltage controlled synchronous generators.

A method and device for detecting and localizing fault in electrical installations includes performing partial discharge measurements and high-frequency measurements at least at one location in the electrical installation and optionally in all phases, selectively comparing the measurement values with each other and with calibration signals, drawing conclusions from the measurements regarding the location and the type of the fault, selectively continuously and periodically performing the measurements at least at three measuring points while the installation is in operation, simulating the electrical installation in a computer as a high-frequency network, while simulating fault with the signals originating therefrom at the measuring points, comparing any measurement values which indicate fault with the simulated signal values for different fault types and fault locations, and determining the type and location of the fault from the simulated signal values which best agree with the measurement values and from the corresponding simulated fault.

The correcting variables in each case are formed from at least one reference value. In order to ensure reliable closed-loop control, the first correcting variable for the turbine control element is composed of at least two partial correcting variables. One of the partial correcting variables is derived from the reference value for forming the second correcting variable for the exciter control element.

A method for partial discharge detection and breaking spark measurement in a dynamo-electric high-voltage machine, especially for monitoring insulation status during operation of a stator winding and connected electrical output lines in a turbo-generator. The generator includes a stator having a stator winding and a stator housing, a rotor with an exciter winding and a shaft, defining an air gap between the rotor and the stator. At least one oil lubricated slide bearing supports the shaft of the rotor with a bearing shell being electrically insulated from the ground. The method includes decoupling the frequency spectrum of high-frequency electromagnetic oscillations resulting from the occurrence of partial discharges or breaking sparks and delivering the frequency spectrum of high-frequency electromagnetic oscillations to a partial discharge measurement apparatus. The frequency spectrum of high-frequency electromagnetic oscillations introduced into the machine shaft through the air gap in the event of partial discharges inside the stator winding or the output lines are decoupled while utilizing the machine shaft insulated by a film of lubricant as a antenna. Then the frequency spectrum of high-frequency electromagnetic oscillations are delivered to the partial discharge measurement apparatus by using the bearing shell of the oil lubricated slide bearing as transmission element.

An overload protection device for a turboset including an alternating current generator, a turbine for the drive thereof, and a network supplied from the generator when disconnecting any short circuit within the network comprises a memory connected to the generator for storing a voltage vector corresponding to positive sequence components obtained therefrom prior to the occurrence of a fault in the network, a comparison circuit connected to the memory and to the generator for comparison of of the stored voltage vector with a voltage vector corresponding to positive sequence components obtained from the generator following occurrence of the fault to generate a difference value, and a switch interconnected between the network and the generator for being released upon the difference value exceeding a predetermined value.
