Abstract:
A cutting insert may include a first surface having a polygonal shape, a second surface, and a cutting edge located on a ridge line where the first surface intersects with the second surface. The first surface may include a first corner, a second corner, a third corner, a first side, and a second side. In a plan view of the first surface, the first side may have a straight line shape or a convex shape protruded outward relative to a first imaginary line connecting the first corner and the second corner, and the second side may have a concave shape recessed inward relative to a second imaginary line connecting the first corner and the third corner.
Abstract:
A first lateral surface of a cutting insert includes a first region, a second region, and a third region. The first region includes a first upper region inclined outward, and a first lower region that is parallel to a central axis. The second region includes a second upper region inclined inward, and a second lower region that is parallel to the central axis. The third region includes a third upper region inclined outward, a third lower region, and a concave part. The third lower region is located more outside than the third upper region and is parallel to the central axis. The concave part is located between the third upper region and the third lower region.
Abstract:
An insert may include a first surface, a second surface, a ridge line located at an intersection of the first surface and the second surface. The first surface may include a first corner, a first side and a second side. The ridge line may include a corner cutting edge located on the first corner, a first cutting edge located on the first side, and a second cutting edge located on the second side. The first surface may further include a first region located from the first cutting edge toward a midportion of the first surface, a second region located from the second cutting edge toward the midportion of the first surface, and a concave part located on at least one of the first region and the second region.
Abstract:
This cutting insert is provided with a lower surface of polygonal shape including side parts and a pair of corner parts, an upper surface, a lateral surface situated between the lower surface and the upper surface, a pair of corner cutting edges located at the pair of corners, and a main cutting edge located in a side portion. The main cutting edge is upwardly convex in shape, and in side view includes an upwardly convex curving portion, and a pair of linear portions respectively extending toward the pair of corner cutting edges from the curving portion. The top portion of the curving portion is positioned more toward the one of the corner cutting edges which, of the pair of corner cutting edges, is that contiguous to a working surface of a work material during cutting of the work material.
Abstract:
In a cutting insert of an embodiment of the present invention, an upper surface includes a first corner, and a second corner and a third corner respectively adjacent to both sides of the first corner. The upper surface sequentially includes a rake surface located along an upper cutting edge and inclined toward a lower surface as going inward from the upper cutting edge at a rake angle on a basis of a perpendicular plane perpendicular to a central axis extending between the upper and lower surfaces, and a connection surface located more inward than the rake surface and inclined toward the lower surface as going inward at a connection angle on the basis of the perpendicular plane. An intersecting part of the rake surface and the connection surface includes a highest position in a portion of the intersecting part corresponding to the minor rake surface. A cutting tool with the cutting insert, and a method of producing a machined product by using the cutting tool are also provided.

A cutting insert may include a first surface having a polygonal shape, a second surface, a third surface and a cutting edge. The first surface may include a first corner, a first side, a first inclined surface located along the first side, and a second inclined surface located along the second side. In a plan view of the first surface, a width of the first inclined surface in a direction orthogonal to the first side may become larger as approaching the second side. A width of the second inclined surface in a direction orthogonal to the second side may become larger as approaching the first side.
Abstract:
A cutting insert includes: a polygonal shaped upper surface; a lower surface; a side surface connected to each of the upper and lower surfaces; and an upper cutting edge located at the intersection of the upper surface and the side surface. The upper surface alternately includes three major corners and three minor corners. The upper cutting edge includes: a corner cutting edge; a minor cutting edge inclined toward the lower surface as separating from the corner cutting edge at a first inclination angle; and a major cutting edge inclined toward the lower surface as separating from the minor cutting edge at a second inclination angle. The corner cutting edge, the minor cutting edge and the major cutting edge are located sequentially from a first major corner to each of first and second minor corners, both of which are adjacent to the first major corner.
