    摘要: The invention relates to a cutting insert having a polygonal upper side. Cutting edges, which are alternately configured as roughing cutting edges and finishing cutting edges, are provided at the edges of the upper side. The finishing cutting edges define an incircle (K1) having a diameter that is enlarged in comparison to a nominal size of the cutting insert, and the roughing cutting edges define an incircle (K2) having a diameter that is reduced in comparison to the nominal size of the cutting insert. The invention further relates to a cutting tool having a tool body on which at least one such cutting insert is disposed.

    摘要: A double-sided milling cutting insert has a first cutting edge disposed at an intersection of a top side and a side surface and a second cutting edge disposed at an intersection of a bottom side and the side surface. Each of the first and second cutting edges contains three cutting edge portions which are useable by indexing. The cutting edge portions each have a cutting corner, a main cutting edge adjacent to one side of the cutting corner, and a wiper edge adjacent to the other side of the cutting corner. The main cutting edge and the wiper edge are each inclined towards a reference plane with increasing distance from the cutting corner such that the first and second cutting edges have the largest distance to the reference plane in the regions of the cutting corners. The side surface has main clearance surfaces, secondary clearance surfaces, and curved corner surfaces.

    摘要: A cutting insert according to an embodiment of the present invention has a cutting edge having a first corner cutting edge, a flat cutting edge, a connecting edge, a major cutting edge, and a second corner cutting edge in the order named. The major cutting edge has an upwardly protruding curvilinear portion, a first straight line portion extending from the curvilinear portion toward the connecting edge, and a second straight line portion extending from the curvilinear portion toward the second corner cutting edge. The flat cutting edge and the major cutting edge have a straight line shape, and the connecting edge has an outwardly protruding curvilinear shape in a top view. The flat cutting edge, the connecting edge, and the first straight line portion are located on a straight line in a side view.

    摘要: An object is to provide a cutting insert for milling that has a minor cutting edge for wiping to achieve improved machined surface quality. A minor cutting edge 3 at a corner includes two circular cutting edge portions 3a and 3a joined to major cutting edges 2 on both sides of the corner and a straight cutting edge portion 3b located between the two circular cutting edge portions 3a. The cutting insert satisfies the following conditions: 0.05TA≦L1≦0.4TA, 0.1L1≦L≦0.5L1, and h≦15 μm, where TA is the radius of a circle inscribed inside the major cutting edges 2 as viewed in the thickness direction of the cutting insert, L1 is the length of the minor cutting edge 3 in the longitudinal direction of the straight cutting edge portion 3b, L is the length of the straight cutting edge portion 3b, and h is the height of the minor cutting edge 3.

Each main lip, starting from a first distance from a reference plane at an active cutting corner, extends in a manner dropping monotonously to a smaller, second distance from the reference plane at a passive cutting corner. That end of a secondary lip that adjoins the active cutting corner is in each case at a greater distance from the reference plane than the other end of the secondary lip that is remote from the active cutting corner. A circumferential side surface has, immediately adjacent the secondary lips, in each case planar secondary flanks and each secondary lip is formed at least regionally in a convex manner in plan view of the associated secondary flank.

    摘要: A single-sided ramping milling insert for ramping operations has top and bottom surfaces and a peripheral surface which extends therebetween. The peripheral surface meets the top and bottom surfaces at respective top and bottom edges. The top edge includes two opposite side cutting edges, two opposite ramping cutting edges, two diagonally opposite raised corner cutting edges and two diagonally opposite associated lowered corner cutting edges. The lowered corner cutting edges are closer to the bottom surface than the raised corner cutting edges. The bottom edge has two diagonally opposite bottom corner edges. The lowered corner cutting edges and the bottom corner edges are convexly curved and a depression is recessed into the peripheral surface between each lowered corner cutting edge and its associated bottom corner edge, the depression configured for providing relief from a convex workpiece surface cut by the lowered corner cutting edge during ramping operations.
