    Abstract: A transfer unit includes, as transfer rollers, a first roller and a second roller, a first bearing member, a second bearing member, a roller holder, a first urging member, a second urging member, a switching cam, a driving mechanism, a unit frame, and a secured cam. By rotating the roller holder, one of the first and second rollers is arranged opposite an image carrying member and, by rotating the switching cam, the first or second roller arranged opposite the image carrying member is arranged selectively either at a reference position or at a released position. The secured cam includes a positioning recessed portion that performs positioning of the first or second roller arranged opposite the image carrying member.

    Abstract: An electrical connector of an image forming apparatus exposes outward from a bottom surface of the image forming apparatus. An electrical connector of a sheet feeder protrudes from a top surface of the sheet feeder. The sheet feeder has a slider configured to be horizontally movable, while holding the electrical connector of the sheet feeder, between a connecting position at which the electrical connectors of the sheet feeder and image forming apparatus are connected and a disconnecting position at which the electrical connectors are disconnected. A locking member having a locking engaged part is fixed to the image forming apparatus. When the slider is moved to the connecting position, a locking engaging part of the slider engages the locking engaged part of the locking member so that the locking member and the slider are locked such that they cannot be separated vertically from each other.

    Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion, an image input portion, a transfer unit, a transfer voltage power supply, and a control portion. The transfer unit includes a transfer roller having a metal shaft and an elastic layer laid around the outer circumferential face of the metal shaft to form a transfer nip by keeping the elastic layer in pressed contact with an image carrying member, and transfers a toner image formed on the image carrying member to a recording medium as it passes through the transfer nip.     Abstract: An image forming device includes: a secondary transfer roller configured to secondarily transfer a toner image transferred to an intermediate transfer belt, to a transfer paper; separating plates; and a power supply circuit configured to apply bias voltages to the separating plates. The separating plates are configured to separate the transfer paper from the intermediate transfer belt when the bias voltages are applied to the separating plates. The separating plates include two or more separating plates installed along a direction perpendicular to the transfer paper conveying direction.
