摘要:
A system and method for electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing devices under test (DUTs) uses an ESD gun attached to a robotic arm to execute ESD tests. The system and method also uses cameras positioned around a DUT placed on a testing table to define at least one test point on a surface of the DUT. Using the defined test point, as well as settings on the ESD gun and a testing process scenario that includes actions to be executed by the system, the testing process is performed by the system.

Systems and methods for protecting electronic devices from electrostatic discharge are provided. A preferred system includes a module configured to be received by an enclosure. The module incorporates an electronic component, such as a memory device, processor, and/or circuit assembly, for example, that is configured to electrically communicate with at least a portion of the enclosure when the module is received by the enclosure. The module also includes a first contact portion that is arranged to contact the enclosure as the module is received by the enclosure. Preferably, the first contact portion is formed, at least partially, of a dissipative material. So configured, when the first contact portion engages the enclosure, an electrostatic charge of the module may be discharged in a controlled manner. Methods also are provided.

A resonance scanning system and method for testing equipment for electromagnetic resonances uses a resonance detection subsystem with at least one probe to identify at least one of a resonating location, a resonating frequency and a quality factor of a resonance of the equipment and an automatic scanning subsystem to displace the probe to different testing locations of the equipment so that the resonance detection subsystem can determine if any of the different testing locations of the equipment exhibits electromagnetic resonances.

A system and method for testing the electromagnetic (EM) susceptibility of an electronic display unit monitors the light emitted from the electronic display unit as EM noise is applied at a particular testing location of the electronic display unit. An error in the electronic display unit caused by the EM noise is detected using an electrical signal generated in response to the light from the electronic display unit.

In an embodiment, a method for changing a direction of an electrostatic discharge includes: providing a structure having a path capable of passing an electrostatic discharge, and changing by over about 90° (ninety degrees) a direction of an electrostatic discharge passing through the path. In another embodiment, a case assembly includes: a case member; and a light pipe assembly coupled to the case member. The light pipe assembly includes a body, a leg member coupled to and depending from the body, and a head supported by the body. In an embodiment, a case assembly includes a switch actuator assembly coupled to the case member and capable of activating when pushed a switch supported by a circuit board.
