Abstract: The present disclosure relates to hair-coloring compositions comprising direct dyes, and aerosol hair-coloring products comprising the hair-coloring compositions. The hair-coloring compositions include: (a) at least one direct dye selected from nitro-phenylenediamines, nitro-aminophenols, azo dyes, anthraquinones, triarylmethane dyes, indophenols, and a mixture thereof; (b) at least one nonionic film forming polymer; (c) at least one thickening agent; (d) at least 40 wt. % of water, based on the total weight of the compositions; and (e) 40 wt. % or less of ethanol, based on the total weight of the composition. The hair-coloring compositions can be combined with a propellant and incorporated into a canister to provide a hair-coloring aerosol product. The compositions and aerosol products are useful for coloring hair.
