摘要: A technique is provided for utilizing optical fiber in a well environment. A well system is combined with a tube-in-tube system designed to protect one or more internal optical fibers. The tube-in-tube system has an entry at one end and a turn around at an opposite end to enable fluid flow between a flow passage within an inner tube and a flow passage within an annulus between the inner tube and a surrounding outer tube. An optical fiber is deployed in and protected by the tube-in-tube system.

摘要: A system for use in a well includes downhole equipment for positioning in the well, and an optical fiber for deployment in the well, the optical fiber to extend to a location of interest in the well in proximity of the downhole equipment. An analysis unit analyzes detected light signals returned from the optical fiber that has been affected by acoustic events generated by the downhole equipment and to determine a status in the wellbore based on the analyzing.

摘要: A distributed fiber optic sensor comprises a conduit having a plurality of sealed compartment extending along its length. A sensing optical fiber is disposed in the conduit and extends through the sealed compartment to form a series of separate sensing elements, each of which separately respond to a parameter of interest that is incident along the length of the conduit. The compartmentalized conduit is surrounding by a protective layer that includes ports therethrough to allow transmission of the parameter through the protective layer to the separate sensing elements.

摘要: Methods, apparatus, and systems for deploying and retrieving sensors downhole are provided. The apparatus can include an outer tubular member disposed about one or more inner tubular members coupled to a fluid directional controller. The fluid directional controller may include a housing separating an interior cavity from an external environment of the wellbore. One end of the outer tubular member and at least one end of an inner tubular member may communicate with the interior cavity. The housing may also include a passageway configured to provide fluid communication between the interior cavity and the external environment. A flow control device may selectively facilitate fluid flow through the passageway. Accordingly, a sensor located in the interior cavity may be selectively exposed to fluid from the external environment. Sensors may be deployed by flowing fluid through a particular tubular member in one direction and retrieved by flowing fluid in another direction.
