A pixel array of a liquid crystal display is discussed. The pixel array can include a first pixel including a first pixel electrode charged to a first data voltage, an upper common electrode which is positioned opposite the first pixel electrode and forms an electric field, a lower common electrode applying a common voltage to the upper common electrode, and a first storage capacitor for holding the first data voltage during a predetermined period, and a second pixel including a second pixel electrode charged to a second data voltage, the upper common electrode, the lower common electrode, and a second storage capacitor for holding the second data voltage during a predetermined period. The first and second storage capacitors are located in a storage area between the first and second pixels, which are positioned adjacent to each other in a horizontal direction.

A display device includes a pixel array including a first set of subpixels of first to fourth colors and a second set of subpixels of the first to fourth colors. The display device also includes a data driver configured to generate first data voltages and second data voltages. The first data voltages have a first polarity with respect to a common voltage that is applied to the pixel array and the second data voltages have a second polarity with respect to the common voltage that is different than the first polarity. The data driver applies the first data voltages of the first polarity to the first set of subpixels of the first to fourth colors via the data line and subsequently applies the second data voltages of the second polarity to the second set of subpixels of the first to fourth colors via the data line.

A disclosed display device includes a display panel including a plurality of data lines and a plurality of gate lines intersecting the data lines, and a pixel array comprising a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form, each pixel being divided into a subpixel having a first color, a subpixel having a second color, a subpixel having a third color, and a subpixel having a fourth color. Two adjacent subpixels in a horizontal line of the pixel array share one of the data lines. For at least one of the first, second, third, and fourth colors, subpixels having a same color are arranged in a hexagonal shape on four adjacent horizontal lines or a diamond shape on three adjacent horizontal lines of the pixel array.
