[Class 110 (i)] In a centrifugal air &c. compressor comprising radial rotor blades 2 and fixed guide blades 3, the latter are of such a form that at any section thereof, in a plane at right angles to the axis of rotation and through the blade, the portion of the neutral line, such as C-C, D-D, which comes at or towards the leading edge is substantially tangential to the direction of the air &c. stream issuing from the blades 2 at this particular section. The blades 3 are streamlined in longitudinal section and are curved in transverse section, Fig. 6, the curvature increasing from the leading edge towards the rear edge. The pressures of the air at various points across the delivery edges of the rotor blades is ascertained by means of a small apertured tube slidable across the edges of the blades and connected to an external manometer.
