    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a profiled masking article and method of masking a substrate to be treated or painted that provides a feathered or soft edge between painted and unpainted areas. The masking article described herein may be used as a single strip, or as multiple strips, placed side by side, wherein a strip is removed between treatments of different types. This allows successive treatment layers to completely cover previous layers, thus avoiding defects resulting from exposed layers of material. In an embodiment, the present disclosure is directed to a masking article comprising: at least one elongate body (12), said body (12) having a top surface, a bottom surface and at least two lateral surfaces, wherein at least a portion of said body comprises an adhesive material; and a generally planar top portion (14), connected to the body along at least one surface, said top portion (14) having a microstructured surface.

    Abstract: 4-Hydroxy[1]benzothieno[3,2-f]quinoline-2-carboxylic acids and esters thereof are prepared by the reaction of an optionally substituted 2-aminobenzothiophene with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate followed by ring closure. The sulfur atom of the intermediate compounds in the process can be oxidized to oxide or dioxide state, then hydrolyzed to the acids, or first hydrolyzed to the acids and then oxidized, if desired. The acids are physiologically active as anti-allergic agents in the acid form or as salts.

    Abstract: An improved liquid spray masking composition including an effective amount of a non-volatile polyhydroxy component is provided. The preferred polyhydroxy components comprise polyglycerols, especially triglycerols or larger polyglycerols. The presence of such materials in masking compositions improves performance of the compositions with respect to inhibition of high temperature swelling, blistering or spotting of the painted surface to which it is applied.

    Abstract: An induction heating apparatus and method for heating a substantially continuous first bondline defined by a length of thermally responsive bonding material positioned between a first member and a second member. The first member or second member is made of an electrically conductive material or positioned adjacent an electrically conductive material. The inductive heating apparatus includes a flexible, reshapeable cable assembly operably positionable adjacent the first member along the first bondline. The flexible, reshapeable cable assembly is capable of being manually shaped to a first shape of the first bondline, and is capable of being manually re-shaped to a second shape of a second bondline different than the first shape of the first bondline. An alternating current power supply is electrically coupled to the flexible, reshapeable cable assembly. When the alternating current power supply is activated the reshapeable cable assembly operates to inductively heat the electrically conductive material for conductive heating of the thermally responsive bonding material substantially uniformly along the first bondline.
