摘要： An embodiment of the present invention provides an apparatus, comprising a mobile device operable to communicate in a wireless network, wherein the mobile device may use a multi-mode resolution digital signal processor (DSP) with one mode operable at a lower bit resolution and lower power consumption and a second mode at a second resolution for higher bit resolution with higher power consumption. In an embodiment of the present invention, the lower bit resolution may be a 4 bit DSP capable of being used for packet header decoding and a PHY rate may be decoded from the packet header to determine which resolution mode to use.
