Abstract: A sign or other marking that is illuminated by an LED lamp, e.g., in a vehicle headlamp is described. The sign employs spectral shifting to increase the power or energy reflected by the sign when illuminated by the LED lamp, which has a significant power peak in the blue spectrum. The spectral shifting can be done in a conversion layer on top of a reflective layer. The reflective layer can include quantum dots to increase its efficiency in reflecting light.
