Abstract: Methods and systems for providing a refund amount to a customer account for a payment transaction that occurred using a real-time payment network. In an embodiment, a supplemental payment services computer receives a refund request including a transaction reference and a token concerning a payment transaction between a merchant and a customer, determines that the payment transaction was effected in a real-time payment network, determines an issuer financial institution (FI) computer of an issuer FI maintaining a customer account represented by the token, transmits the refund request to the issuer FI computer, receives a favorable authorization response and transmits the authorization response to an acquirer FI computer associated with the merchant. The supplemental payment services computer also transmits a payment card network funds transfer credit message directing the issuer FI to credit the refund amount to the customer account and transmits a payment card network funds transfer debit message directing the acquirer FI to debit the refund amount from an account of the merchant to the acquirer FI computer. Next, the refund amount from the acquirer FI computer to the issuer FI computer is settled via a payment card account network settlement system computer.

Abstract: A request for a refund is received relative to a payment transaction implemented in a real-time payment system. The request is transmitted to an issuer financial institution that maintains an account for the payer in the payment transaction. A response is received from the issuer financial institution. The response is transmitted to an acquirer financial institution that provides financial services to the recipient of the payment transaction. A first transfer message is transmitted to the issuer financial institution directing the issuer financial institution to credit a refund amount to the payer's account and to debit a settlement holding account maintained by the issuer financial institution. A second transfer message is transmitted to the acquirer financial institution to debit the refund amount from the recipient's account. The refund amount is settled from the acquirer financial institution to the issuer financial institution via a payment card account network settlement system.

Abstract: Systems and apparatus for providing merchants with real-time funds availability for payment card account system transactions. In an embodiment, the system includes a bridging network computer having a processor operably coupled to a storage device and to a communication device, a payment network, a merchant acquirer bank computer, and a plurality of issuer bank computers. The storage device of the bridging network computer stores instructions which when executed cause the processor to receive a payment card account system transaction request, determine that the merchant selected electronic funds transfer (EFT) settlement for the accepted payment card account transaction, determine that the payment card account transaction is eligible for real-time EFT settlement, determine that both the merchant acquirer bank and an issuer are participants in a real-time EFT settlement arrangement, and then transmit instructions to an issuer bank computer to credit a holding account and to execute via an EFT transaction request a transfer of funds in real-time for the transaction amount to the merchant acquirer bank.

Abstract: A payment management system and method of managing a payment network includes generating a payment token based on a bank account of a user (e.g., a buyer), receiving a dynamic code through a network for a transaction, and validating a request for payment of the transaction using an installment plan based on funds from the bank account. The validating the request for payment of the transaction is performed based on operations which include authenticating the payment token and verifying the dynamic code. In addition, the method includes generating a decision signal indicating a decision for the request when the request for payment is validated and transmitting the decision signal to a merchant system to authorize or decline completion of the transaction.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating a secure QR code for use in a purchase transaction. In an embodiment, a directory service computer verifies the identity of a merchant by matching an acquirer financial institution (FI)-signed certificate and a stored certificate, wherein the acquirer FI-signed certificate was received from a merchant device along with a secure QR code request. The directory service computer then establishes an encrypted and Pinned SSL tunnel with the merchant device, receives a transaction message including a transaction amount, a universal unique identifier (UUID), and a transaction identifier (ID), updates an application transaction count (ATC) associated with the merchant, and generates and stores a secure one-way Hash value, generated by using a merchant identifier (ID), the transaction amount, the ATC, the UUID, and the transaction ID. The directory service computer next generates a dynamic secure QR code by combining the Hash value, the transaction ID and the merchant ID, and transmits the dynamic secure QR code to the merchant device for use in conducting a purchase transaction.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating a secure QR code. In an embodiment, a directory service computer receives a secure QR code request from a merchant device that includes an acquirer financial institution (FI)-signed certificate.
