Abstract: An orbital sander includes a housing, a motor within housing, the motor including a motor shaft defining a motor axis, an eccentric drive unit coupled to the motor shaft to convert rotation of the motor shaft to an orbit motion around the motor axis, a battery receptacle for receiving a battery pack, a backing pad coupled to the eccentric drive unit for orbital motion about the motor axis, and a dust collection assembly adjacent the backing pad for directing dust away from the backing pad. The orbital sander, including the housing, the motor, the eccentric drive unit, the battery receptacle, the backing pad, and the dust collection assembly, defines a center of gravity CGROS located on a first side of the motor axis adjacent the battery receptacle. The dust collection assembly defines a center of gravity CGDCA on a second side of the motor axis opposite the first side.

Abstract: A fastener driver includes a housing defining a head portion and a handle portion, a drive mechanism positioned within the housing, and a firing mechanism. The firing mechanism includes a primary guide member supported within the head portion of the housing, a secondary guide member spaced from the primary guide member and supported within the head portion of the housing, a piston slidable along the primary guide member and the secondary guide member, a driver blade attached to the piston and configured to be movable along a drive axis, and a biasing member configured to move the piston and the driver blade from a top dead center (TDC) position toward a bottom dead center (BDC) position. A lifter assembly is operated by the drive mechanism to return the piston and the driver blade towards the TDC position, against the bias of the biasing member.

Abstract: An insulated staple includes a staple including a crown extending between a pair of legs and an insulator including an insulator bridge extending between a pair of insulator legs and a channel extending from an end of one of the insulator legs to an end of the other of the insulator legs. The staple is at least partially received in the channel. A width of the channel at the insulator bridge is greater than a thickness of the staple crown. The insulator includes protrusions extending into the channel and defining therebetween a gap that, in absence of the staple, has a width less than the width of the staple crown to provide a friction fit between the staple crown and the insulator.

Abstract: A fastener driver includes a magazine having a magazine cover and a magazine body. The magazine cover includes a top surface having an opening defined therein. The magazine body is slidably movable relative to the magazine cover from a closed position to an open position. A latch is coupled to the top surface of the magazine cover and extends through the opening in the top surface of the magazine cover. The latch includes a latch projection that defines a first contact surface. A pusher body is slidably coupled to the magazine body and includes an arm member that defines a second contact surface. A biasing member biases the pusher toward a nosepiece when the magazine body is in the closed position. The first and second contact surfaces are engageable to hold the pusher body in a latched position when the magazine body is in the open position.

Abstract: A powered fastener driver including a housing, an inner frame positioned within the housing, and a workpiece contact assembly coupled to the housing and movable from an extended position to a retracted position in response to contact with a workpiece. The workpiece contact assembly includes a biasing element that biases the workpiece contact assembly into the extended position. The workpiece contact assembly is engageable with the inner frame in response to an applied force that moves the workpiece contact assembly beyond the retracted position.
