Abstract: An easy to manufacture and service two-stage servo valve of the deflectable free jetstream-type is provided having a split body construction, part of which houses the second-stage or output valve spool which controls the flow of fluid through actuating ports with respect to supply and return ports, and the other part of which supports the jet deflector hydraulic amplifier and torque motor to constitute a separable first-stage assembly. Although there is mechanical force feedback between the valve spool and armature of the torque motor, the servo valve is so constructed that no feedback forces are transmitted through the jetstream deflector. This enables the deflector to be designed as a nonstructural element for ease of manufacture and made of a material having the desired physical characteristics such as one resistant to fluid erosion.
