Abstract:
A method and network element are provided that perform admission control in a wireless communication system by, in response to receiving a new bearer request associated with a user equipment (UE), can free up bearers currently allocated to the UE when the UE's bearer limit is reached. In response to receiving a bearer request associated with the UE, the method and network element determines a number of bearers currently allocated to the UE, wherein the UE is limited to a maximum number of bearers, and when the UE currently is allocated its maximum number of bearers, determines a priority associated with the bearer request, compares the determined priority to a priority associated with each bearer currently allocated to UE to produce one or more comparisons, and based on the one or more comparisons, determining whether to preempt a currently allocated bearer to admit the requested bearer.
Abstract:
A method and network element are provided that manage bearers in a wireless communication system. The method and network element receives a bearer request associated with a user equipment (UE) and a service data flow (SDF). In response to determining that a value of a first quality of service parameter associated with the SDF is the same as a value of the corresponding first quality of service parameter of a bearer currently allocated to the UE, and that a value of the second quality of service parameter associated with the SDF is different than a value of the corresponding second quality of service parameter of the bearer currently allocated to the UE, the method and network element modifies the value of the second quality of service parameter of the bearer currently allocated to the UE to produce a modified bearer and maps the SDF to the modified bearer.

Abstract:
A method of Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) registration and a user equipment (UE) enable dynamic assignment of a Mobile Subscriber Integrated Services Digital Network-Number (MSISDN) to the UE. An input identifying a user of the UE is received at the UE. One or more credentials based on the input are transmitted from the UE to an identity management system. User data comprising a MSISDN attribute corresponding to the user are received at the UE from the identity management system. An IP Multimedia Private Identity (IMPI) associated with the UE and an IP Multimedia Public Identity (IMPU) based on the MSISDN attribute are then transmitted from the UE to a registrar.
Abstract:
A network component in a broadband network receives dynamic status information associated with a user accessing the broadband network with a first user equipment. The network component also retrieves stored priority attributes associated with the user and identifies whether another user equipment is associated with the user. The network component determines access network policy for all user equipment associated with the user by using the dynamic status information and the stored priority attributes, associates the access network policy with each user equipment associated with the user; and forwards the access network policy to a policy component. The access network policy is used in determining priority and quality of service policy for each user equipment associated with the user.
