Abstract: A wearable device for projecting image light to an eye of a viewer and forming an image of virtual content in an augmented reality display is provided. The wearable device includes a projector and stack of waveguides optically connected to the projector. The wearable device also includes an eye tracking system comprising a plurality of illumination sources, an optical element having optical power, and a set of cameras. The optical element is disposed between the plurality of illumination sources and the set of cameras. In some embodiments, the augmented reality display includes an eyepiece operable to output virtual content from an output region and a plurality of illumination sources. At least some of the plurality of illumination sources overlap with the output region.

Abstract: Wearable and optical display systems and methods for operation thereof incorporating monovision display techniques are disclosed. A wearable device may include left and right optical stacks configured to switch between displaying virtual content at a first focal plane or a second focal plane. The wearable device may determine whether or not an activation condition is satisfied. In response to determining that the activation condition is satisfied, a monovision display mode associated with the wearable device may be activated, which may include causing the left optical stack to display the virtual content at the first focal plane and causing the right optical stack to display the virtual content at the second focal plane.

Abstract: In an example method for forming a variable optical viewing optics assembly (VOA) for a head mounted display, a prepolymer is deposited onto a substrate having a first optical element for the VOA. Further, a mold is applied to the prepolymer to conform the prepolymer to a curved surface of the mold on a first side of the prepolymer and to conform the prepolymer to a surface of the substrate on a second side of the prepolymer opposite the first side. Further, the prepolymer is exposed to actinic radiation sufficient to form a solid polymer from the prepolymer, such that the solid polymer forms an ophthalmic lens having a curved surface corresponding to the curved surface of the mold, and the substrate and the ophthalmic lens form an integrated optical component. The mold is released from the solid polymer, and the VOA is assembled using the integrated optical component.
