    摘要: The position of a mobile terminal is determined including receiving location determination signals from satellite positioning system transmitters. Location assistance information is received from a wide area wireless communication network in an associated format defined by a protocol of the network. Location assistance information is received from a local wireless transmitter in the associated format. The local wireless transmitter and the wide area wireless communication network are uncoordinated and have different associated wireless transmission protocols. The position of the mobile terminal is determined based on the received signals from the satellite positioning system transmitters and location assistance information received from either the wide area wireless communication network or the local wireless transmitter. The source of the location assistance information may be selected based on availability and may be an ad hoc protocol wireless transmitter, such as a Bluetooth transmitter.

    摘要: A portable electronic device, e.g., a mobile communications terminal, PDA or other handheld device, includes a GPS receiver and is configured to conduct non-GPS activities. The GPS receiver is transitioned out of a sleep state to attempt to acquire at least one GPS satellite signal responsive to a selected non-GPS activity of the device. For example, the GPS receiver may be transitioned out of the sleep state to attempt to acquire at least one GPS satellite signal responsive to a first non-GPS activity, and may be left in the sleep state notwithstanding occurrence of a second non-GPS activity. The first non-GPS activity may, for example, be associated with positioning of the device in a more conducive to reception of GPS satellite signals than the second non-GPS activity. For example, the first non-GPS activity may comprise an internet browsing activity, a video presentation activity, a gaming activity and/or a non-hands-free telephony activity.

    摘要: A method of producing a radiating plasma with an increased flux stability and uniformity is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of generating a primary target by urging a liquid under pressure through a nozzle; directing an energy pre-pulse onto the primary target to generate a secondary target in the form of a gas or plasma cloud; allowing the thus formed secondary target to expand for a predetermined period of time; and directing a main energy pulse onto the secondary target when the predetermined period of time has elapsed in order to produce a plasma radiating X-ray or EUV radiation. The pre-pulse has a beam waist size that is larger, in at least one dimension, than the corresponding dimension of the primary target.
