    摘要： An imaging apparatus includes a controller and a media detection device mechanically engaged with a print media. The media detection device has a movable indicator having a surface with distinct reflectance characteristics. A reflectance sensor is communicatively coupled to the controller. The reflectance sensor reads a reflectance of the surface and outputs a signal to the controller indicative of at least one characteristic of the print media.

    摘要： In one illustration, the all-in-one printing system includes a machine adapted to function as at least two different devices chosen from a printer, copier, scanner, facsimile, and photo card reader. A first operator panel, when attached, interfaces with the machine controller electronics to selectively activate the machine controller electronics to enable the machine to function as at least one of the devices. A second operator panel, when attached instead of the first operator panel, interfaces with the machine controller electronics to selectively activate the machine controller electronics to enable the machine to function as at least a different one of the devices. In another illustration, the machine controller electronics, when activated by the first or second operator panel, enables the machine to function as at least one device in a computer-host-based mode. The second operator panel has operator-panel controller electronics for the machine to also operate in a stand-alone-based mode.

    摘要： A scanner includes a scan bar, a first scan-bar homing reference, a second scan-bar homing reference and an image placement area. The scan bar is movable along a subscan axis. The second scan-bar homing reference is spaced apart along the subscan axis from the first scan-bar homing reference. The image placement area is located between the first and second scan-bar homing references. A broad method uses the scanner. One step includes performing a prescan or an image scan of an image by moving the scan bar along the subscan axis from the first scan-bar homing reference in relation to the image. Another step includes performing a prescan or an image scan of the image or of an additional image by moving the scan bar along the subscan axis from the second scan-bar homing reference in relation to the image or the additional image.
